Come celebrate our Just Serve Day at Nationals Park on July 24th (Pioneer Day!). The event starts at 5:00 pm with representatives of JustServe and our nonprofit community partners handing out promotional materials at tables within the stadium. JustServe representatives will be on the field for the batting practice and we will select one of the two individuals throwing the ceremonial first pitch. The game against the Arizona Diamondbacks starts at 6:45 pm.

The event will celebrate America’s 250th anniversary and the spirit of volunteerism. The objective is to raise awareness of JustServe across the broad DMV community and to foster the desire to serve. We are excited to share the night with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).

There are 1,000 seats set aside for our community to purchase across four levels of the stadium and at four discounted price points. The tickets can be purchased using http://www.gofevo.com/event/Justserve6. Once those 1,000 seats sell, the Nationals will open up more sections for us. Having said that, the prices will go up as more seats are purchased. With the HBCU affinity event and a Nationals sponsored concert after the game, this promises to be a very popular date. We suggest people get their tickets as soon as possible.

On My 14th we gathered at the .center in Dulles. Each table group had a mix of people from all different faith backgrounds. We discussed what the 4th of July means to us. This was our final faith 250 dinner but there may be more interfaith events coming! We are so grateful to have friends from other faiths and to learn more about their culture and background. We were also delighted to hear the all girls Muslim choir. They performed at Governor Spanberger's innaguration in January.

If you would like to learn more about .center they are having an open house on June 13th! Here is information on that:

On April 16th some members of our Oakton Stake joined the dinner at Floris United Methodist Church. The focus was on the hymn "America the Beautiful". It was wonderful to gather with other faith groups in our community and have discussions about our country's history. We are excited for the next (and last) faith250 dinner on May 14th! Some members of the Oakton Stake sang in a choir at a community concert at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fairfax today. The concert benefitted the Centreville Immigration Forum and Mosaic Harmony. Choirs from Mosaic Harmony, UUCF, and Unity Church also sang. It was lovely to gather as neighbors and do something good! Special thanks to Reverend David Miller for hosting and Laura Weiss for inviting us to join.

“Any time we can help and serve others, it’s a great day. To see that big truck come in full of food and bless the lives of those who are dealing with food insecurity in their lives is really important”

According to the 2025 Hunger Report from the Capital Area Food Bank, 36% — or 1.5 million people in the greater Washington, D.C., region — didn’t know where their next meal would come from at some point last year.

Our latest Faith250 dinner was held at the Many members of our Oakton Stake were there. We had a thoughtful discussion about the Declaration of Independence and what faith and freedom means in our lives today.

It was such a blessing to come together with people of different faith backgrounds. The food was delicious, the conversations were meaningful, and everyone left feeling uplifted and connected.

We are so grateful to First Baptist Church of Vienna for hosting this special Faith250 dinner. We look forward to gathering again soon.

On January 22 members from 8 faith traditions in the Reston area gathered to eat and make new friends as part of the Faith250 initiative, including members from our Oakton Stake. We discussed the poem “The New Colossus” and the Statue of Liberty. We all put why our families came to America on a sticky note and put our notes on a map where our families are from.

Faith250 is an opportunity for multifaith clusters of congregations to come together in fellowship, meaningful conversation, and public civic rituals that celebrate America’s 250th birthday.

Visit Faith250.org to learn more! We are so grateful to be a part of this meaningful discussion between faith groups in our area.
