Henry Koperweis Foundation for Holocaust Education

Henry Koperweis Foundation for Holocaust Education To promote an awareness of the atrocities committed by the Nazis against the Jews of Europe as told through Henry's personal experience as a survivor.

Today is my birthday and I decided it would be a good time to launch the Henry Koperweis Foundation page on Facebook. Together with my brother Stuart and my sister Michele, we have created this foundation to honor and memorialize our father's incredible story of survival, loss, and new beginnings; in a new world. My father is now 89, and he spent a great deal of time throughout his life re-telling

his story, first to his children, and then to the classrooms that his 9 grandchildren attended while growing up. Through the Henry Koperweis Foundation, my siblings and I intend to preserve our father's story and to continue taking his narrative to future generations. Through this endeavor we hope to promote peace and tolerance by highlighting the horrible consequences of hate and prejudice as illustrated through my father's experience. We shall never forget! This evening in Israel is the eve of The Day of Remembrance of the Shoah and of the heroes who helped save Jews. It is a time to gather and hear the stories from those who survived and from their children.

For a few moments tomorrow morning at 10 a siren will sound. It can be heard throughout the country. Everyone stops what they are doing and stands in silent memory: https://youtu.be/Va4jlXzt0s8?si=mjxQ5ET7skwcJKv8

Here is one story that can no longer be told by my father. You can hear me tell it though, in respectful memory:

Today is international Holocaust Remembrance Day. This year it has a whole different meaning to me. We say the word often: Holocaust, but what does it mean? “It’s this bad thing that happened to the Jews in Europe during WWII,” most of us think. But if you break it down into what was really happening, it was this:

Almost entire populations of people in many European countries felt and believed that Jews should be killed. They should be removed from their society by killing them. Just get rid of them. They hated Jews. They wanted them dead. They felt that because of the things that Jews allegedly did they all deserved to die: men, woman, children, babies. Imagine feeling like that. It’s inconceivable these days.

And what they were accused of doing, they never did. To the communists the Jews were capitalist. To the capitalist, they were communists. They instigated wars, poisoned wells, kidnapped Christian children, ruined economies, etc. All of the problems that existed in their respective countries could be solved by “killing” the Jews.

Sound familiar? Oct 7th happens. Over a thousand Jews are slaughtered in the most vicious, hateful, disgusting and barbaric manner. Something the world has never seen in modern times. Woman and girls are r***d, mutilated and murdered by soldiers of the Palestinian people. People are burned alive in their homes. Teenagers are slaughtered at a concert. Hostages are taken. Hostages: woman, children, babies!Elderly men and woman, some of them Holocaust survivors. Their Achilles are slashed so they can’t escape. All while the perpetrators shout, Allahu akbar, god is great. It is filmed. Broadcast around the world. Celebrated by them. If unstopped there would have been another Holocaust. They would have gone through the entire country of Israel and killed as many innocent people as possible.

Why? Because they deserved it. They needed to be eliminated from Palestine so that the Palestinian people could have a better life. All their problems are because of The “Zionists”. A euphemism for Jews. Sound familiar?

And what do the Palestinian people think about this?

“JERUSALEM, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Almost three in four Palestinians believe the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on Israel was correct, and the ensuing Gaza war has lifted support for the Islamist group both there and in the West Bank, a survey from a respected Palestinian polling institute found.
The Palestinian Center for Policy Survey and Research (PCPSR)”.

As I wrote on the back cover of my book about my father’s survival through the mass murder of Jews in Europe: Racism and hate can lead to murderous behavior and the rapid destruction of civil society.

Shame on these people for their racist hatred! Shame on the world for not calling it what it is. Racism and hatred of a people. Genocide. Ethnic cleansing.

My father, Henry, he should rest in peace, must be rolling over in his grave.

We are reliving the horrible nightmare that was “The Holocaust!” THIS, is how it happened.

Never again is now my friends.

01/27/2023

We pause! Jan 27th is Holocaust Remembrance Day. Not just for Jews but for all. 6 million Jews were murdered, but over 60 million non Jews died as well. Jew hatred affects everyone. When Jews are not safe, no one is safe.

On this occasion I am just finishing the audio book version of my father’s incredible story of survival. Here is an excerpt. If you want to pre-order a copy please message me.

An open letter to Ken Burns :

Dear Mr. Burns,
I recently watched your documentary on the US and the Holocaust and found it to be extremely informative and enlightening. Thank you for making such an important film.
I have to tell you, however, that what you did at the end of the film was deeply offensive to me personally, my father, who was a Holocaust survivor, and to all those who perished including many of my family members.
Equating the words of Donald Trump when he was speaking about illegal aliens with the deportation of Jews to death camps by the N***s is shameful. Comparing the former President of the United States to Hi**er and the N***s is not only absurd it is an utterly disgusting politicization of the Holocaust. How dare you, sir!
I respectfully request that you and the other makers of this film publicly apologize to the remaining few survivors of the Holocaust, to the Jewish people in general, and to the American people as well. You have disgraced the memory of millions who perished by this indefensible, hurtful and utterly unnecessary tactic.

I look forward to your response.

Recently Jon Voight received a copy of my book. He was apparently very moved by it. He wanted to speak to my dad and I. Through a close childhood friend of mine he was able to call and my father and I were delighted to speak to him. He praised my father for his ability to survive under all odds against him and to make his way to America to create a new life and raise a family. He told my dad that his story as told in my book was “very important” and “beautifully written”. It was an honor for me to hear that from him. A rare moment in life.

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day. In the preface to my book Every Last Jew, the story of my father’s surviving the Holocaust, I wrote this:

The purpose of remembering is not to carry a life-long grudge, or to seek revenge, or to label a group of people as evil; that is what the N***s did. A basic belief of the National Socialists was that Jews were an inferior race. They condemned an entire group of people based on nationality and ethnicity. The purpose of remembering what happened to the Jews of Europe is to learn from the past so that as a society we do not repeat our mistakes.

On this day we remember and morn all those who lost their lives to senseless hatred. We also celebrate the lives of those that survived, such as my father.

To get a grasp of the enormity of the loss of life, consider this: If you held a minute of silence for every person who perished in the Holocaust, you would remain silent for eleven years.

If you’d like a copy of my book or would like an E Book version you can get it here (all proceeds go to further Holocaust Education thru our Foundation):

Experience firsthand what it’s like to struggle for your life in one of the most diabolical and murderous events in human history—The N**i plan to exterminate every last Jew in Europe.Gain insights as to why the N***s, and Hi**er in particular, hated the Jews, making them the enemy ...
