ABOUT
The Music Man has been called the All-American Musical. Meredith Willson wrote the script and composed all the music for this fun all-age show. It first ran on Broadway for four years featuring Robert Preston and won five Tony Awards in 1957. The show has returned to Broadway multiple times with the most recent performances starring movie and Broadway superstars, Hugh Jackman and Foster Sutton, running through 2022 and closing January 15 of this year.
The story of The Music Man features a fast-talking con man, Harold Hill, who is challenged to take on the strait-laced and colorful characters of small-town River City, Iowa. He has to face the stubborn townsfolk and especially River City’s librarian and piano teacher, Marian Paroo, who is intent on exposing him as a fake.
