Oakland City Church

Oakland City Church Welcoming all to worship to experience Christ's love, and grow individually and community belonging 🧡 What to Expect

The Gospel: Good news, not advice.

A time of worship celebrating what God has done for us in Jesus Christ. Our gatherings are not about perfection, but purpose—spaces where every heart, story, and journey is valued. Expect reflection, encouragement, and the divine challenge of living faithfully. This church exists for you, for us, for this city, and for this moment, rooted in the love of Christ. Kids & Families

All children are we

lcome! Every child, regardless of age or background, is celebrated here. We offer dedicated Sunday School classes for each grade group, ensuring age-appropriate learning and engagement with Bible stories. Babies and toddlers are cared for in our nursery, or families are welcome to keep little ones with them during worship. Every child, every family, and every age is valued and included in our community. Food & Fellowship

Community and fellowship are an important part of our gatherings! Typically, on the second Sunday of each month, the church sponsors a lunch curated by Table Catering to encourage connection and shared community. On special occasions, we celebrate with diverse local food vendors to honor Cultural Heritage Months, highlighting the richness and diversity of our congregation. Everyone is invited to join, no matter who you are, where you come from, or who you love.

Today, Oakland City Church joins communities across the nation in honoring Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and hope.

As followers of Christ, we believe every person is created in the image of God and worthy of dignity, love, and respect. Juneteenth invites us to remember the past, celebrate progress, and commit ourselves to building a future marked by justice, reconciliation, and unity.

We give thanks for the strength and perseverance of those who endured, and we pray that God's peace, healing, and freedom continue to transform our communities.

"Learn to do right; seek justice. Defend the oppressed." — Isaiah 1:17

Happy Juneteenth from all of us at Oakland City Church. 🖤❤️💛💚

Join us this Sunday as we welcome Rev. Jorge Bautista as our guest preacher!

Rev. Jorge will share a message titled “When Religion Sees a Sinner, Jesus Sees Love” based on Luke 7:36–50, inviting us to reflect on grace, compassion, and the radical love of Christ.

Jorge serves as Pastor of College Heights Church (UCC) in San Mateo and as Race Equity Coordinator for the Presbytery of San Francisco. Passionate about nurturing diverse communities, he has led transformative ministry initiatives including launching an LGBTQ+-affirming Spanish-language worship service, advocating for affordable housing, and fostering meaningful community engagement.

His ministry is rooted in deep listening, collaboration, justice, and joy. Jorge believes laughter is a spiritual gift, and that faith communities are strongest when they make room for both hope and hospitality.

We look forward to welcoming Rev. Jorge and sharing in this inspiring message together. See you Sunday!

This Sunday, May 31st at Oakland City Church, we welcome back Pastor Carl Pascual to preach for our AAPI Sunday gathering.

Pastor Carl served at OCC for eight years and was ordained during the pandemic after graduating from Fuller Theological Seminary. Since then, he has continued ministering throughout Oakland, serving seniors at Christian Church Homes and St. Mary’s Center in West Oakland, and currently serves with the Alameda County Workforce Development Board. He lives in the Oakland hills with his wife and three sons.

This Sunday’s message comes from John 4:1–30 — a story about encounter, truth, healing, and the ways God meets people in unexpected places.

We’re honored to welcome back a familiar voice and celebrate the ways God continues to move through different seasons of ministry and community life.

Join us this Sunday as we worship together and celebrate AAPI Heritage Month.

Happy Mother’s Day to every woman who nurtures, loves, sacrifices, and prays with a mother’s heart. Today we honor those who gave birth and those who have adopted, those who stepped in as mother figures (aunts, sisters, friends, and family), those carrying the grief of losing a child, those mourning the mother they wish they had, and those grieving mothers they have lost.

We also celebrate the love, joy, and cherished moments shared with the mothers and families who make this day so special.
God sees every joy, every sacrifice, and every hidden ache. May His love bring comfort to the grieving, strength to the weary, peace to every heart, and happiness to those celebrating today. May we all feel the blessing of His presence and the gift of love surrounding us. 💐🙏

“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” — Proverbs 31:28

Praying that this day is filled with grace, healing, love, and the reminder that God’s presence is near to every mother and every heart longing for comfort, joy, and rest. 💐🙏
