Congratulations to our good regional Bishop now Bishop of Metuchen Michael Saporito

Pope Leo XIV has appointed Most Reverend Michael A. Saporito, currently Auxiliary Bishop of Newark, as the Bishop of Metuchen.

The appointment was publicized in Washington, D.C. on September 15, 2026, by Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

THE WAIT IS OVER! Coffee with Jesus is back starting tomorrow, Tuesday September 15th. Ladies, please join us for the 8:30am Mass and then meet for coffee in the Blessed Mother Room. We have time for socializing, religious discussion, prayer, and did we mention coffee?

If you are unable to attend the 8:30am Mass, you're still welcome to attend, just meet us in the Blessed Mother Room at 9am. Non-members are also welcome to attend. If you have any questions or want more information, you can email [email protected]

All are welcome to join us this week for our community events.

1) Tuesday mornings at 9am is the return of our very popular Coffee with Jesus. Join our women's group for coffee, socialization, bible study, prayer, and did we mention coffee.

2) We have our final September Adoration on Wednesday at 7pm. We have Adoration on the first Saturday of every month at 9am and on every third Wednesday at 7pm.

3) Our evening Rosary has returned to it's regular Friday at 7pm slot.

4) Sunday 9/20 is the FINAL day to take advantage of the discounted early bird tickets to the Fall Family Festival. You can purchase them on our website or at the front entrance/exit after Mass. The Fall Family Festival is on Sunday 27 September after the noon Mass. 9/27 is also Father Bob's final Sunday at OLPH, join us at the festival to celebrate his 3 years with us and to share your well wishes for his next chapter.

As always, we have Rosary Monday-Saturday at 8:00am before the 8:30am Mass. Reconciliation (confession) Saturdays at 9am (after 8:30am Mass). And Sunday Mass at 8am, 10am, and 12pm (noon). You can also attend Mass on Saturdays at 5pm to fulfill your Sunday obligation.

We are now back to our regular Mass schedule. Please join us on Sundays at 8am, 10am, or noon. You may also attend on Saturdays at 5pm to fulfill the Sunday obligation. This Sunday at 6:30pm (9/13), we will be having a special Mass for our Confirmation students. This is mandatory for all Confirmation students, but parents and families are encouraged to attend.

Please note that we have Mass Monday through Saturday at 8:30am immediately after Rosary (8am). We also have the Rosary on Fridays at 7pm.

Adoration is on the 1st Saturday at 9am and 3rd Wednesday at 7pm. Reconciliation is at 9am on Saturdays, immediately following the 8:30am Mass.

Our Gospel message this week is from Matthew 18:21-35, the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant.

Consider these reflection questions throughout your day and post your thoughts in the comments!

Peter approaches Jesus and asks Him how often we must forgive someone who offends us. In response, Jesus tells a parable that teaches us about mercy and the need to forgive someone “from your heart” and “seventy-seven times” (without limit). He also issues a stern reminder that the extent to which we are willing to be merciful to others is the extent to which God the Father will show mercy to us.

1) How does this passage challenge you to rethink your own attitudes about judgment, fairness, hypocrisy, and forgiveness?

2) Isn’t it sobering to know that God effectively allows us to determine the standard for our own judgment? Will we respond in fear or in love?

3) Why are we sometimes unwilling to extend to others a grace that has been given to us? Isn’t the goal of grace to open our hearts and transform them?

ATTENTION CONFIRMATION STUDENTS AND FAMILIES!

This year we are opening our Confirmation program with a special Mass on September 13th at 6:30PM.

All confirmation students are required to attend and their families are encouraged to join us. Confirmation students will have Confirmation class immediately following Mass.

Please note that this attendance satisfies your Sunday obligation and is mandatory for all Confirmation students. All are welcome!

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001. We pray for the families who still carry the grief of that day, and we ask for comfort, healing, and peace for our nation. We also give thanks for the immense bravery of the first responders who risked everything. Let us continue to be anchors of hope and love in our communities. "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." – Psalm 34:18

We will be returning to our regular Sunday Mass schedule this weekend, September 12-13th. Please join us on Sundays at 8am, 10am, or 12pm (noon). Or Saturdays at 5pm.

Unfortunately, the summer is over and we will be returning to our normal schedule until next summer. We still have Mass at 8:30am Monday-Saturday mornings.

Please remember, that this upcoming Sunday the 13th, we will be holding a special Mass for our new Confirmation class at 6:30pm. This one time Sunday Mass is mandatory for all Confirmation students. Parents, family, friends, and parishioners are welcome. Our first Confirmation class will take place immediately after Mass. Please note that this 6:30 Mass is a special event and is not a new weekly Mass time. However, if you choose to attend the 6:30pm Mass on the 13th, it fulfills your Sunday obligation.

Happy Anniversary Bishop Chau

One year ago today, the Archdiocese of Newark celebrated the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Bismarck Chau, who was named Auxiliary Bishop by Pope Leo XIV in 2025.

As we mark his first year of episcopal ministry, we give thanks for Bishop Chau’s pastoral leadership and his faithful service to the diverse communities of the Archdiocese of Newark.

Please join us in prayer for Bishop Chau as he continues his ministry as Auxiliary Bishop and Regional Bishop of Hudson County.
