Dr. Shariati has been an active member of the Bahá’i Faith community her whole life. She previously served as a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’is of Contra Costa County Central and is now a member of the community’s Area Teaching Committee, collaborating with local community members to plan and coordinate grassroots educational and service-oriented initiatives that promote unity, community building, and spiritual development.
Dr. Shariati began her involvement with the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County (I4C) through the organization’s ICARE program, helping to put together food distribution service projects. I4C is dedicated to fostering understanding, cooperation, and service among diverse religious and spiritual communities in Contra Costa County. As the current secretary of I4C’s governing board, she assists in organizing community programs and events that strengthen relationships among faith communities and advance mutual respect and cooperation.
Dr. Shariati helped establish and co-manage (and now serves as a volunteer dentist for) Dentists on Wheels, a non-profit organization based in Pittsburg, CA that provides free, comprehensive dental services and access to community resources to uninsured adults in and around Contra Costa County. As a general dentist at the nonprofit organization LifeLong Medical Care, she is is passionate about serving the underserved.
