We are preparing for our 18th year of our It's in the Bag ministry. This program provides a backpack filled with kid-friendly food – enough for 7 meals over the weekend during the school year. While the school district provides breakfast and lunch during the week during the school year, many children cannot count on enough to eat over the weekend. They come to school, many times, hungry and not able to focus on learning. It’s in the Bag provides food throughout the school year for over 360 at-risk children across all of our eight Garrett County elementary schools as well as our head start and early head start programs.

We take Jesus' commandment to feed the hungry very seriously. We want to be the hands and feet to Jesus in Garrett County and beyond.

This program receives no grants or public funding, relying entirely on donations. If you wish to donate to this vital ministry, visit www.episcopalgarrett.org and click "give now" and choose "It's in the Bag!" as your designated fund.

The next meal will be held on Thursday, September 17th. We will be serving chicken tetrazzini, salad, garlic bread, and, as always, homemade desserts.

If you are unable to eat on-site, we will offer takeaway beginning at 5:30 pm.

ALSO, the Nearly New Shop will be open on the evening of August 17th from 5 pm - 6:30 pm in conjunction with Stephen's Table, so you can shop and get a delicious free meal all in one place!

Stephen's Table community meals are held monthly at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, located at 126 E. Liberty St. in Oakland. The meals are provided on the next to the last Thursday of each month unless adjusted for a holiday. Please look for our sign near the Second St. entrance and enter the building using that entrance. The meals will be served upstairs in our Parish Hall unless otherwise noted.

We would love to host you for supper every month! As always, the meal is free of charge.

The next meal will be held on Thursday, July 23rd. We will be serving grilled BBQ chicken, baked beans, cucumber & onion salad, homemade rolls, and, as always, homemade desserts.

If you are unable to eat on-site, we will offer takeaway beginning at 5:30 pm.

ALSO, the Nearly New Shop will be open on the evening of July 23rd from 5 pm - 6:30 pm in conjunction with Stephen's Table, so you can shop and get a delicious free meal all in one place! The sale this week is on pants, jeans, capris, and shorts with the price of $1 for adults and 50 cents for kids.
