When Bill Beukers and I were in the thick of taking in youth off the streets and from foster care… we used to feel so discouraged that the church was not doing the most basic part of thier faith… which is to take care of the poor, widowed and orphaned.
Foster children fall under both poor and orphaned, and the Bible says that that is literally the “PERFECTION OF OUR FAITH”
So why? Why aren’t we obeying the commandments of the WORD of God, set forth in the the Word?
If 2 family from every church in California became a foster parent, there would be no more children in the system!

Its counter intuitive
counter cultural
counter religious.

When my son started walking, he would go and go and go.He had so much to explore and learn and do. When it came time for bed he would squirm and fight us as we HELD him in our arms.
There was still so much to do and he wanted to do it. But we knew he had to rest, so we would literally fight his intense little heart by holding him tighter until he SURRENDERED to our embrace.

It was in that place, as he was dozing off to sleep, that I could feel the muscles of his body start to relax and succumb to the love of his parents and just be HELD.

The Lord is calling us to that place. The place where we just SURRENDER and just be HELD. To give up fighting His embrace, because there is still so much to do.

This has been October.
God holding us tightly, as we squirm and fight, because there is still so much to do.

Let Him hold you in His arms.He knows how to fight and win the battles. He knows how to win the war.
