Dolores Mary Young Strother
Visitation for Mrs. Dolores Mary Young Strother will be held at the White Oaks Funeral Home Chapel in Oakdale today, Monday, January 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be held at 11:30 AM and service to begin at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Oakdale with Reverend Vijaya Peddoju officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale, LA.
Dolores Mary Young Strother, 84 of Oakdale, Louisiana, was born on March 16, 1941, to Leonard and Julie G. Young in Mamou, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard & Julie; her husband of 67 years, Clint Louis Strother, Sr.; five brothers; and two sisters.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; her four sons, Johnny Strother (Donna) of Pitkin, Michael Strother (Cheryl) of Plainview, Anthony “Bear” Strother of Oakdale, and Clint Louis Strother, Jr. (Keitha) of Oakdale; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, with one great grandchild on the way; a special niece, Dorcey Trahan of Keithville; and a host of nephews, nieces, family, an friends.
Dolores was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 67 years. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Baptized at St. Ann’s Catholic Church June 21, 1941, in Mamou, Louisiana. When she was able, Dolores enjoyed attending water aerobics at the Oakdale Community Center. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends. It was often said that if she did not make it into Heaven, no one stands a chance.
The family is deeply grateful that in her final years, Dolores was able to remain in her home, lovingly cared for by her son, Bear. They would also like to extend heartfelt thanks to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their compassion, guidance, and support during this difficult time.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Roy Strother, Clint Strother, Eddy Strother, Keith Gassiott, Aaron Cudd, and Chris Scharmerhorn. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tukker Strother, and Phillip Strother.
