Congratulations to Laura Prejean from the Diocese of Lake Charles, who entered the novitiate with the Sisters of Life on July 24 taking the name Sister Lilianna Petra. (She is front row, far left)
Sister Lilianna Petra is the daughter of Garland and Marie Prejean and sister to Katie Prejean McGrady, all of Lake Charles.
A novice is a sister who enters the community to further discern taking first vows. Through these two years of prayer and discernment, she will learn the charisms of the community and participate in the mission before making a first profession of vows.
The Sisters of Life, based in New York City, minister to the sanctity of life in the poor, the sick, the aged, and the unborn. They were founded in the 1990s by Cardinal John O'Connor, Archbishop of New York.
