Good Shepherd prepares meals once a week for Housing Forward. They are looking for some more support this summer. If you know of anyone in your orbit who can pitch in this summer, please share this with them and have them reach out to Housing Forward!

As summer begins, our meal donations begin to slow down, but the need continues to grow. ☀️

Providing a meal for guests in our Shelter Programs is one of the simplest and most meaningful ways to support our community. Whether it's homemade, catered, or picked up on your way over, a shared meal can bring comfort. It offers care and connection.

Sunday is Pentecost, one of the great festival days of the church—a joyful celebration of the Holy Spirit poured out upon the followers of Christ, with tongues of fire and the good news proclaimed for all people.

In the lesson from Acts, people from many nations were gathered in Jerusalem and each heard Peter’s preaching in their own language—a powerful sign that the Gospel is meant for the whole world. To reflect that beautiful diversity, you are invited to wear ethnic clothing representing the nations gathered together. If you do not have ethnic attire, consider wearing the liturgical color of Pentecost—red—or the colors of flame: red, orange, or yellow.

One of our cherished Pentecost traditions is the reading of Acts in many languages simultaneously and the result is a wonderful echo of that first Pentecost.

We hope to see you at 9:30--our new summer worship time!

A reminder that tonight is the first meeting of Grace for the Journey, our short-term, online group to discuss topics related to walking alongside aging parents.

Tonight at 7pm, our facilitator will be Deaconess Lisa Polito. She serves seniors in her Valparaiso congregation and community and will be talking with us about the spiritual and interpersonal aspects of walking with aging parents.

Reach out to Deaconess Debbie if you still need the zoom link!
