from the dead.

☦🙏Saturday, May 30, the Saturday before Pentecost, all are encouraged to offer prayers for their departed loved ones.
“On the Saturday before Pentecost we commemorate all departed pious Christians, with the idea that the occasion of the coming of the Holy Spirit not only consists of the economy of the salvation of man, but that the departed also participate in this salvation. Therefore, the Holy Church, sending up prayers on Pentecost for the enlivening of all the living through the Holy Spirit, petitions for the grace of the Holy Spirit also for the departed, which they were granted while they were still living, and was the source of eternal blessedness, because ‘all souls are enlivened through the Holy Spirit.’”

"On the eve of the Sunday of Apokries, our church calls a global memorial for all 'the devout who have fallen asleep for eternity, on the hope for their resurrection and eternal life.' This really is the big day of the church in which we pray for those who have fallen asleep in the Lord. To understand the meaning that exists in the relationship of Great Lent and prayer for those who have fallen asleep, one should remember that in the church, we experience the mystery of the love of God. The life of each of us does not end with our death on earth and our birth to another world. Our presence seals encountered. This responsibility continues after death, so the living are associated with the deceased for whom we pray. Our prayer for them is significant because it reflects the completeness of our common life, reflected by our actions, benevolence, and almsgiving."
«Την παραμονή της Κυριακής της Απόκρεω η εκκλησία μας καλεί σε μια παγκόσμια ανάμνηση όλων «των απ' αιώνος κοιμηθέντων ευσεβώς, επ' ελπίδι αναστάσεως ζωής αιωνίου». Αυτή πραγματικά είναι η μεγάλη ημέρα της εκκλησίας κατά την οποία προσευχόμαστε για τα κοιμηθέντα μέλη της. Για να καταλάβουμε το νόημα που υπάρχει στη σχέση της Μεγάλης Σαρακοστής και της προσευχής για τους κοιμηθέντες θα πρέπει να θυμηθούμε ότι μέσα στην εκκλησία βιώνουμε το μυστήριο της αγάπης του Θεού.Η ζωή του καθενός μας δεν λήγει με τον θάνατο μας πάνω στη γη και τη γέννησή μας στον άλλο κόσμο. Η παρουσία μας σφραγίζει όποιον συναντήσουμε. Αυτή η ευθύνη συνεχίζεται και μετά θάνατον κι έτσι οι ζωντανοί συνδέονται με τους κεκοιμημένους για τους οποίους και προσεύχονται. Η προσευχή μας γι' αυτούς είναι ουσιαστική γιατί εκφράζει την πληρότητα της κοινής μας ζωής και πρέπει να στηρίζεται και απο τις πράξεις μας, τη φιλάνθρωπη διάθεση και την ελεημοσύνη.»
