Day 11
Micah: I liked what Elizabeth Elliot wrote about this prophet so thought I would share it with you. "No town is as important as our hometown. No matter how far we stray from our roots, our hometown always captures our memories, because it has captured our hearts. The prophet Micah was from a tiny town nestled in the Judean foothills 25 miles southwest of Jerusalem. He wrote of another tiny town that became the hometown of the world. About the same time Isaiah was prophesying that a child would be born-- who would be the Savior of the world--Micah was predicting the place of the Savior's birth. "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me the One to be ruler in Israel, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting"(Micah 5:2). Unknown Bethlehem was just one of many tiny shepherd villages dotting the hillsides of Judah, but Micah prophesied that it would not remain unknown forever. And it hasn't. Bethlehem became God's hometown, a place where God become man. Bethlehem, even the name brings warm feelings to our hearts, as if it were our hometown too. In a way it is, for we all need what Bethlehem gave to the world, a Savior who is Christ the Lord."
"He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord , in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace." Micah 5:4-5(NIV)
Father, Thank you for sending your Son to bring true peace to this world. Thank you for inviting me to make myself at home in your presence. Thank you for inviting me to live forever in your hometown. How awesome your are!
