Ten days remain in this year's Catholic Appeal. As of June 14th our parish has contributed $27,185 to this appeal. Thank you for your generosity!

Gentle reminder, the 85th annual Catholic Appeal “Let it Begin with Me” ends June 30th. As of June 7th Good Shepherd Parish has contributed $20,460 to this appeal.

If you have not given already, please join with your fellow parishioners to shine a light on those who need our help, and to share hope across our community through your generosity. As children of God, we are called to be peacemakers (Matthew 5:9). The agencies and apostolates supported by the Appeal provide nourishment for body and soul, such as food pantries and food vouchers, family resources, formation of candidates for ordination to the priesthood and the diaconate, and pastoral care.

You can give by mail, using the contribution card mailed to you from the Fall River Diocese, (we have extras located in the Church), or make your secure gift or pledge online today at https://www.catholicfoundationsema.org/appeal/ where you can also watch the 4 videos–one from Bishop da Cunha and three on the other ministries your donations support.

Join us for the Holy Mass this weekend as we hear Jesus tell us 3x in the Gospel to not be afraid. Dr. Scott Hahn tells us, "Our commitment to Christ will be put to the test. We will hear whispered warnings and denunciations ... even so-called friends will try to trap and trip us up. For His sake we will bear insults and be made outcasts—even in our own homes ... Though He may permit us to suffer for our faith, our Father will never forget or abandon us. As Jesus assures us today each one of us is precious to Him."

Parish offices are closed Friday, June 19th for the federal holiday. Join us for morning Mass at 8:00 am at St. Elizabeth's Church, EDG.

From the USCCB website: Juneteenth calls us forward. It challenges us—as individuals, as a society, and as the Church—to renew our commitment to racial justice, reconciliation, and peace. In his encyclical Magnifica Humanitas, Pope Leo XIV reminds us that true peace is inseparable from justice:

“All of us, at every level, can contribute to building the foundation of peace, which is justice. We do not merely seek any kind of peace—such as an absence of conflict at any cost—but instead, the true peace born of justice. Do you therefore wish to attain peace? Then practice justice! Let us never grow weary of seeking justice!” (no. 215)

Join us for the Holy Mass this weekend, the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time, as we keep God's command to worship Him. Dr. Scott Hahn tells us, "The Church is the fulfillment of God’s covenant promises to Israel—a kingdom of priests and a holy nation ... where we have been gathered as the new 'Israel of God.' He has made us His own people, the flock He tends, as we sing in today’s Psalm. Moses was Israel’s first shepherd; Jesus is the new Moses and new David promised by the prophets, a divine shepherd-king sent to restore God’s priestly kingdom. We have been saved and reconciled to God, through Jesus." Indeed, the kingdom of heaven is at hand!
