Missouri Baptists have one of the best resourced disaster relief programs— in terms of available volunteers, equipment inventory, and skilled workers— in the country, which is why MODR can provide aid outside our state borders.

MODR volunteers are currently on the ground in Indiana responding to disaster needs and bringing practical help and gospel hope to communities impacted by recent storms and flooding.
We currently have volunteers serving through:
Chainsaw recovery
Flood recovery
Mass Care/Feeding
Damage assessment
Chaplain ministry
Shower/laundry support
Incident management

Please continue to pray for the families affected, the local churches and communities responding, and the MODR volunteers serving long days in difficult conditions.
Thank you, Missouri Baptists, for helping make this ministry possible. When disaster strikes, you help send trained volunteers to serve in Jesus’ name.

Ladies Serving Together — that’s the group name and the mission for one of FBCO‘s most active teams impacting the community through service projects.

Seven of its members were at Missions Thrift Store this week volunteering their help in sorting and merchandising items for the retailer.

Cathy Ritchey leads the group’s meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month.

“We are mostly retirees,” she says. “The women want to be active.

And the group does serve in different ways to a variety of Christian organizations. It has provided diapers, fixed meals, donated blankets, and assembled packets of personal care items.

“They want to serve different organizations in whatever they need,” Cathy says of the women.

Ladies Serving Together have donated diapers to Sparrow’s Nest— a Christian nonprofit serving underresourced families in St. Charles County; plus the Lincoln County pregnancy resource center, OASIS; and also the Missouri Baptist Children’s Home in Bridgeton.

The group has worked with the Sharing Shed in O’Fallon. That Christ- based organization provides household furniture and other items for needy local families.

Ritchey says the group’s primary Christian ministry recipient is First Step Back Home. That group serves the homeless in Lincoln, Warren, and St. Charles counties.

The ladies have provided meals as well as put together personal care packets and offered other services to help homeless clients.

Other group leaders include Karon Reed as assistant director, and Alicia Bastin as treasurer. However, Cathy says the group is a collaborative effort with great input from many to find opportunities and create events.

Ladies Serving Together is open to women of any age. Meetings are the first and third Tuesday of the month at 10am in the Family Life Center.

Our senior adults are busy people. Over 20 folks from our seniors LIFE groups gathered at Missions Thrift Store this morning to help sort, stock, and serve the ministry.
Our seniors are vital to FBCO and our missions programming. Visit any activity or group in our church and you’re likely to see some of our seniors leading, helping, contributing.
We are grateful to our older adults for many things, but especially for their examples that God provides purpose and ministry, and that everyone is young enough to serve Christ.

This week FBCO is hosting a visiting missions team from two Missouri churches who are learning about missions strategies, engaging our residents in door-to-door gospel conversations, and working with our local ministry partners.
These teams will take their training and experiences back into their communities.
Through your missions support, FBCO not only creates opportunities to send our people as missionaries into the world, but to receive and equip members from other churches to become missionaries where they live.

FBCO missionary partner Don Wagner and FBCO Deacon Marc McDermott are in Ethiopia this week training native pastors in theology. They arrived very early Sunday morning before 1am, got some rest, and began teaching today.
Marc was having back issues and some pain before the trip but made the 30+ hour flight schedule with minimal pain, his wife Shirley reports.
Before they started teaching, Don made some friends in the hotel and describes the encounter:
“We are beginning a new location for our Biblical Discipleship training program in Ethiopia this week. At breakfast this morning these three beautiful dolls came over to our table to shake our hand. Then the youngest one decided she wanted a hug too. Melted my ❤️ and made my whole day brighter.”
