It’s amazing how one “yes” can change the course of your life.
Years ago in Arkansas, our friend Pam didn’t ask us to lead a ministry, she simply asked us to serve. That first yes opened the door to so many opportunities and ministries, but one ministry stood out: military ministry. It was Pam’s passion, and as we served alongside her, it became our passion too. Eventually, we helped lead it with her, and when we moved here, we knew it was something God wanted us to carry on. To honor her, our OHF motto says “prayers around military”… aka PAM. 💙 We miss her every day!
Here, our military ministry looks like quarterly events, sending care packages to deployed members, and helping families on the homefront with lawn care, childcare, and practical needs. More than that, it’s about creating a space where people who feel disconnected or far from family can find community, encouragement, and support.
Last night was one of those moments, over 40 people came with us to a Grizzlies game! For a church our size, that’s incredible! Nights like these aren’t just fun, they give people the chance to connect in a safe, welcoming way, sometimes long before they ever step foot in a church building.
We’ll never stop being grateful for Pam’s example, encouragement, and investment in us. This ministry exists today because she asked us to simply start serving and we serve in many areas. We lead other ministries too, but each one holds a different meaning and place in our hearts. 🥹
