IPF Rockland

IPF Rockland All are welcome including past and present Members! On March 30, 1996, Rev. IPC General President Rev. T. S. Abraham inaugurated the fellowship on May 19, 1996. Rev.

From its humble beginnings in 1996, India Pentecostal Fellowship has grown steadily to serve as a beacon of hope to the communities north of the New York City and its suburbs. Joseph Williams and a group of believers from Westchester and Rockland counties in New York founded the church. Initially, we assembled in rented hotel rooms in Nanuet and thereafter, until early 2002, at the Nyack Community

Center. The Lord enabled us to purchase the former First Baptist Church of Nyack on May 29, 2002, and we have been worshiping there since June 2, 2002. Joseph Williams is our founder and president. The late Rev. Jacob George served as the pastor for the first three years along with Rev. Williams. Since January 2000, Rev. Williams has served as both the pastor and president. In October 2001, a local IPC fellowship where by Rev. Baby Mathew was serving as the pastor merged with this church. In 2003, Rev. Mathew was appointed as the vice president of the fellowship. Our church building has an illustrious history. Three 19th-century presidents, James Garfield, Grover Cleveland and William McKinley, have visited this 150-year-old church. Since our purchase, the building has undergone extensive interior renovation, and today it is one of the most beautiful sanctuaries around. The village of Nyack where the church is located also has a significant place in the history of North American Indian Pentecostals. In the early 1980s, the Pentecostal Youth Fellowship of America, one of the pioneer united endeavours of the Indian Pentecostals in North America, began hosting its annual conference at the Nyack Christian College and did so for several years. At that time, there were no Indian Pentecostals in the Nyack area. With our relocation to this building, we now have an Indian Pentecostal church in Nyack close to where the PYFA youth camps were held. At the Rockland assembly, we now have more than fifty families worshiping the Lord in truth and spirit. God has blessed us spiritually and materially. We have an active Sunday school, PYPA and women’s fellowship. We meet five days a week for prayer and fellowship. Including Sunday worship service, we hold seven meetings during the week. Our desire is that we will continue to be a beacon of hope to the lost and a source of comfort to the needy. Towards that goal, the church is actively engaged in various missions and charity. Primarily, the church financially assists with church planting missions in the Indian states of Orrissa and Tamil Nadu through the IPC General Council. If the Second Coming of the Lord tarries, our prayer is that, through our ministry, God will raise up a generation that will carry the mantel of our forefathers and serve Him faithfully.

It is with profound sorrow yet with much hope in Christ Jesus that we convey the passing of our beloved brother Chacko V. Chacko (84) on Saturday, March 25th at the comfort of his home. He was relaxing and reading at his living room sofa with no known symptoms as he entered his eternal rest. He is survived by his loving wife Annamma Chacko, daughter Alice Thomas (OK) and family; son Finni Chacko (NY) and family. Dear Chackochan (Vazhaparambil Thankachan) was the most beloved member of IPC Rockland Assembly (IPF), a man of prayer, an elder of the church and a founding member.

The viewing service will be held on Friday, March 31st from 5pm and the home going on Saturday, April 1st at 9:00am. Both services will be held at IPC Rockland Assembly at 85 Marion St. Nyack, New York. We are requesting your prayers for the comfort of the family and friends.
