Day 2 | Preparing for the Holy Fire
Notice that the Exodus and Acts accounts are similar, God's presence coming down from heaven to be with His people. Before the visitation there must be consecration (setting apart for divine purpose). If we truly want to see God's power at work in our lives we must avoid the very things He has warned against. We must avoid sin. As the fire of God's presence engulfed Mt. Sinai, so did the presence of the Holy spirit fill the upper room, and each one who was gathered. Only this time, the Spirit was indwelling and infilling them. The Blood of Christ cleanses us, and the Spirit fills us, taking control of our lives. When the Spirit of God is in control of us, we are Spirit-led and can then control ourselves, keeping our instincts/natural tendencies under His power.
When our hearts are prepared for Him, and yielded, we experience true Pentecost.

Day 1 | Waiting For What the Father Promised

Pentecost means 50th and occurred on Day 50 after Passover. After Israelites celebrated Passover on the day of Exodus from Egypt, it was on the 50th day they stood at Mount Sinai, receiving the Law. In the New Testament, Jesus was crucified during the Passover, and the Holy Spirit descended 50 days later on Pentecost.
Coincidence? Not really, gave the Law, now He would give grace after the sacrificial death of Christ. God promised to pour His Spirit on all flesh and to give men a new heart that would want to obey Him. The greatest significance of Pentecost in the dwelling of the Spirit in the heart of men, not law, to live and to please God.
Why should we wait for the Promise of the Father? Because we are unable to work without Him. We must wait and surrender for that deeper work of God in us, then we will yield and be filled, sanctified and empowered of God.
Lesson: True Pentecostalism begins when believers stop relying on human strength and wait in faith for the promised fullness of the Holy Spirit.
