One pastor's response to the death of Charlie Kirk
I am deeply concerned about the death of Charlie Kird, and the subsequent responses across our nation from individuals, social media, news outlets and political entities. I state vehemently that violence is never the answer. Every death, especially a violent death, should matter to all of us.
Watever position is taken on this event and the responses to it, it is important that we treat one another with respect as we move forward. In the midst of this national tragedy we call on the "better angels of our nature" to respond with honsety, curiosity, openness and grace. Today there are many who grieve and we pray that they will in someway find comfort.
As a religious leader I am profoundly aware that the Constitution provides me with te freedom to preach and teach without fear of reprisal, and affirm that every person in the United States is afforded the same privilege and right.
While this is certainly a national issue, how we respond here in our own community and with our neighbors matters. It is my prayer that peace may indeed prevail.
