Tonight our Grace Youth Group hosted a “Cabaret” fundraiser offering up voices and instrumental talents to support their summer mission trip. We had a wonderful evening of lovely music and lively conversation as youth served up luscious desserts between sets! 🎤🎶🕯️🧁🍪❤️

“And Mary said, ‘My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty.’” from the Good News of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke. Join us on Wednesday (June 3rd) at Noon as we celebrate the Feast of the Visitation during our MidWeek Contemplative Mass (transferred this year from May 31st). On the ‘eve’ of PRIDE Month, as has become our tradition here in Nutley, following the 10AM Mass we blessed and raised a Pride Flag on our campus as a symbol of welcome and of solidarity with our LGBTQ+ members, neighbors, family, and friends. May this flag serve as a reminder to all who see it of God’s expansive love for them and the beautiful diversity of God’s creation! “Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” - Romans 12:10 NIV

May is Armed Services Appreciation Month and to recognize those who serve with honor the Grace Youth Group created ‘art hearts’ which were shared, along with notes of encouragement and prayers, with veterans at the VA Hospital in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. As part of the daily Morning Prayer service we pray for members of the armed services. If you have a loved one who is deployed in active service please submit their name to the parish office so that we can pray for them by name while they are abroad. (Photos of the hearts created by our youth are currently on display in the narthex.)

“O Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful hearts the men and women of our country who in the day of decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. Grant that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines. This we ask in the Name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.” (The Book of Common Prayer, p. 839) Our sanctuary is open for prayer and reflection on Memorial Day, ending with an Evening Prayer service at 6:30PM.

We are ready and excited to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism with at least two more candidates on this Pentecost Sunday (May 24th)! If you’ve not been baptised yet this can be the day! Don’t worry if you didn’t get any “paperwork” into the parish office; we can take care of that afterwards… just join Father Asa at the baptismal font when the other candidates are presented! “On the last and most important day of the festival, Jesus stood up and shouted, ‘All who are thirsty should come to me! All who believe in me should drink! As the scriptures said concerning me, “Rivers of living water will flow out from within them.”’ Jesus said this concerning the Spirit.” (John 7:37-39a CEB) Our worship services today at 8AM & 10AM.
