In every congregation, there are those who once sat together with us in the pews but have since been lost to error or sin. Though some might assume that the chief purpose of church discipline is to condemn the sins and errors of others, our Lord reminds us that discipline is an act of love that seeks to restore the fallen. While this idea may seem out of step with the emphasis in our times on tolerance without judgment, if our Lord loves the lost enough to save us, then we are called to do no less.

All are welcome to worship at St. Luke at 9 am each Sunday. Links to our live-stream and bulletin for this Sunday, September 6, can be found here: www.stlukenunica.org/worship-online. Sunday School begins at 10:30 am, following fellowship time.

Rev. Bryan and Deaconess Keah Payne, along with their two children, will be joining us tomorrow morning for worship. In lieu of our 10:30 am Bible class, they will be sharing their experiences of working as missionaries in Tanzania, Africa. Learn about their training, how they transitioned to living in a different country and culture, and how their work has impacted those they have connected with. This is sure to be an exciting conversation and we hope that you are able to join us!

One of the areas of traditional historical study that has changed greatly in recent years is the science of mapmaking and map reading. Directions are now often supplied by satellite imagery. Whatever technology is used, it is still important to be able to follow the instructions given with the map for it to be used successfully. Following is vital! On several occasions, Jesus says to those who would be His disciples very simply and straightforwardly, “Follow Me” (Matthew 4:19; Luke 9:59). Those who followed Him found renewal and blessing. As we follow His leading through our worship, we are renewed and blessed.

We welcome you to our 9 am worship services. Our service bulletin with announcements and link to our live stream can be found here: www.stlukenunica.org/worship-online.

We are excited to host the Payne family and Missionaries next Sunday, September 6, following our 9 am worship service. Rev. Bryan and Deaconess Keah Payne, along with their children, Rory and Dalton, are travelling the US to visit those congregations that support their mission work. They will be sharing their experiences, successes and challenges of their relocation from the US to Tanzania, Africa, the impact that their work has had on the local seminary and community, and how their lives have changed during their time living there.

Pot-luck alert! Please join us for both this conversation and a pot-luck meal. All are welcome to attend, and we encourage you to bring your favorite dish to share.

The word "doxology" encompasses words of praise that are addressed to the triune God. It comes from the Greek word doxa, which is used in the New Testament to express the splendor of God and also serves to describe the outpouring of honor and praise to God from His faithful people. When we sing or say “Glory be to God on high,” we are joining the praises spoken by the angels of God in eternity: “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen” (Revelation 7:12). Such an honor it is for us to join in that praise!

Join us for our 9 am worship service each Sunday with Pastor Micah Brooks. Our service bulletin and live-stream are available here: www.stlukenunica.org/worship-online

We’re excited to share a few snapshots from our Community Picnic on Sunday, August 9. St. Luke members and neighbors gathered for a relaxed afternoon of food, fun, and fellowship. The smiles say it all—what a joyful day together.

And there’s more to look forward to. Mark your calendars for our upcoming Trunk or Treat & Chili Cook-off on Sunday, October 18, from 4–6 pm. Costumes, decorated vehicles, homemade chilies, friendly competition, and plenty of kid‑friendly fun—all completely free and open to the community.

We can’t wait to see you there.

In tomorrow's Gospel, Jesus moved beyond His ministry initially among the Jews now to the Gentile woman of Canaan. The miracle greater than the healing of her daughter was her great faith in Jesus addressing Him, saying, “Lord, help me” (Matthew 15:25). Through the prophet Isaiah, the Lord said He would bring “foreigners” to His “house of prayer for all peoples” (Isaiah 56:6–7). Here He gives “many blessings even though we are undeserving” (Prayer of the Day).

Guest Pastor, Rev. Dennis Lassanske, leads our worship service tomorrow at 9 am. If you wish to join via live-stream, the link to our service and bulletin are here: www.stlukenunica.org/worship-online. Following our service, we invite you to gather with us as Julie Burgess of the MI District / CEF shares a presentation titled Lifetime Plan for Giving Workshop.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for your incredible generosity toward our Care Cabinet!
Because of your donations, we received an outstanding amount of shelf‑stable foods and hygiene products at last Sunday’s Community Picnic. These photos capture only a portion of what has now filled and refreshed our shelves.

Your kindness is a beautiful witness of God’s love at work in our greater community. We are truly grateful for you and the way you care for others.

The workshop will cover:
~ The important documents everyone should have
~ How the LCMS Foundation can assist you with preparing, or reviewing, a will or trust
~ Ensuring your estate is being transferred in a tax-wise manner, and in a manner which you intend
~ How giving plans are for everyone. All gifts can make an impact

Julie Burgess is the Senior Gift Planning Counselor at MI District / CEF / LCMS Foundation.
