Prayers for the family of Margaret

Margaret L. Holmgren, age 85 of Noxen, went peacefully home to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Noxen on June 30, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy Gunton.

Margaret graduated from Dallas High School and received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg State College. She taught for Tunkhannock and Lake-Lehman School Districts. Margaret volunteered at the Wyoming County Food Pantry and was an active member of the Noxen United Methodist Church, where she held various positions and was involved in many ministries. She was an avid reader, bird enthusiast, gardener and was lovingly dedicated to her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Spencer; brother, John Gunton; sister, Nancy Denmon.

Margaret is survived by daughters, Cheryl Reeves (Lee) and Karen Brown (Daniel); grandchildren, Bryson (Maura), Aaron, Bradley, and Brandon Reeves; great-grandchildren, Carson, Weston, and Winona Reeves; 2 step-great grandchildren, Aiden and Aubrianna; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at 10:00 AM from the Noxen United Methodist Church, 3425 State Route 29S, Noxen, PA 18636 with Pastor Val Rommel of the White Mills United Methodist Church, officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday at the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek.

Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

Memorial donations can be made to the Noxen United Methodist Church, C/O Jacque Buckley, 3425 State Route 29S, Noxen, PA 18636.

The Ash Wednesday service will be at Dallas UMC at 7 pm on February 14, 2024. We are participating in a cluster wide Ash Wednesday service with other churches and pastors. Please plan on attending.
