Something Has Changed!

In December 2023, our church's name was changed from Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church(The Grove), to Light City. We want to be aligned with biblical doctrine rather than a denomination, and to clearly state that We are Light in a dark world. We follow The LORD in Christ, who is The Father of Lights. While our name has changed, our vision and commitment to manifest love, light & liberation by the gospel of Christ has not. We desire to continue the legacy that has been built by God through our church family.

Why Change the Name After so many years?

Church names are important. They identify us. They help communicate our identity: what we believe, how we govern, how we worship.
A church's name speaks to what the church has within. We have found a name that speaks to who we’ve always been, but will represent where God is leading us. We are so excited to now be Light City!

Will The Doctrinal Statements Change?

No, there are no changes to our doctrine or practice. We remain committed to God, Scripture and The Holy Spirit. We continue to embrace our baptist doctrinal essence. It should also be noted that we believe that the Holy Spirit gifts believers with certain abilities for the furthering of His kingdom and the edification of His Church (Romans 12, 1 Corinthains 12, Ephesians 4).
We also confirm the present day operation of the miraculous gifts of the Spirit, including but not limited to prophecy, tongues, healing, and miracles. These gifts serve the purpose of validating the message about Christ and liberating man from darkness, evil and oppression.
(Acts 2:43, 5:12, 14:3, Romans 15:19, 2 Corinthians 12:12)
While our name has changed, God's Word is the same.

We appreciate your continued prayer. This is a significant transition for our church and we need wisdom to navigate the implications of a new name. Please rejoice with us in God’s revealing His vision for Light City.

Our church family welcomes all who wish to share with us in another way of living: the way of Christ, life in community, fulfillment in service and liberating all.

Pleasant Grove -Notasulga will welcome the Mothers of Gynecology Wellness Pod to the area!

The Mothers of Gynecology Wellness Pod will provide informative care, check-ups, giveaways, and connections to all mothers and expectant moms in the community. We invite everyone to join us for a day dedicated to improving maternal and infant health in rural counties.
Our team of doulas, nurses, and maternal health workers will be present to provide comprehensive care and address any concerns or questions regarding maternal health. We believe that by coming together as a community, we can make a positive impact on the well-being of mothers and infants in Alabama.

Join Michelle and The Mothers of Gynecology team of medical providers with The Mothers of Gynecology Wellness Pod on December 23rd at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Notasulga, AL, for a day of informative care, check-ups, giveaways, and connections. Together, let's work towards improving maternal and infant health in our community.
