Wednesday Update with Fr. Chris
Dear Friends,
It is hard to believe that we are almost to the feast of Corpus Christi! This is one of my favorite times of the year because the Eucharist is the core of our faith; it unites us to Jesus, refreshes us and nourishes our souls, and brings us together as a faith community every Sunday. Every year, this feast reminds us of the importance of the Eucharist and, most importantly, that it is Jesus, fully present, body, blood, soul, and divinity. This is not a symbolism, not a re-enactment of the last supper, but rather when we participate in Mass and receive the Eucharist, we participate and are present with all the angels, saints, and those who have gone before us.
With respect, since we are celebrating such an important feast this coming Sunday, I wanted to bring something to your attention and ask for your help. We notice that every Sunday, a large number of parishioners leave the church right after Holy Communion before the Mass ends. There is no judgment from us; rather, we simply want to remind you that this is not appropriate. We understand that sometimes it can be difficult to arrive on time, especially for those with children and those with disabilities. We are more concerned about people leaving early. Think and pray about the beautiful gift you have just received, the Eucharist, and stay and pray for the remaining five minutes or so before you leave. Of course, emergencies arise, but otherwise, please consider making this change if you find yourself leaving early. Thank you for your understanding!
Thank you to all of you who have been writing to me about the various ministries we are starting! I have received all of your emails. For those still interested who have not reached out yet, you can email me anytime, and I will add you to the flock note for the specific ministry. Please reach out to be a part of the following:
-Youth Ministry (Parents volunteers/student interest)
-Bible Study
-Youth Lectors/Altar Servers

Youth Lectors
We will be starting up training again for new youth lectors in June. If you think your child would be interested, keep your eyes on the bulletin and the flock note. We will be sending out training dates soon. Thank you to parishioner Mr. Matt Kelly for helping us with the training!
Corpus Christie
This Sunday, after the 11 am Mass, we will be doing a Eucharistic procession through the church and around the grounds (weather permitting). We are so happy to get this up and going again after a few years' hiatus. We are grateful to the Saint Catherine Pastoral Council for helping the Priests organize this. Please join us!
Ordinations
This past weekend, I made a quick trip down to Wheeling, West Virginia, for the ordination of Fr. Clifton Mastron. Fr. Clifton served here as a seminarian all of last year. It was such a joyful day, and I am so glad I was able to attend. He sends his love and prayers to all the people of St. Catherine's! His first assignment will be at The Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling, where he was ordained. For those who wish to send him cards, his address is below:
Cathedral of St. Joseph
1300 Eoff Street
Wheeling, WV
26003
Mr. Lucas DaCosta, who served as our campus minister at the school last year, will be ordained this Saturday as a Transitional Deacon for the Diocese of Fall River. He will then become a Priest sometime around Christmas. Please pray for him. For those who wish to send him a card, you can send it here to the Rectory, and I will make sure he receives it on Saturday.
SCS School
SCS school has many events this week. Yesterday I joined the 8th grade for their end-of-the-year retreat. The theme was on discipleship and friendship. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Mass, talks, games, and much more took place. The 8th graders seemed to take well to the experience and had an encounter with our Lord. The awards night will take place tonight, and graduation and the end-of-year Mass will take place this week as well. Please keep all of our students in your prayers as they prepare for summer. Some of the kids dressed up today as their favorite saints, see below.
May they rest in the peace of Christ:
The following souls will have funeral Masses at St. Catherine's this week. Please keep them and all of our beloved dead in your prayers:
-Joanne Kelly
-Joseph Neves
-William Cleary
As we head into the summer months, know that our continued prayers remain with you and those whom you love.
God Bless You!
-Fr. Chris
