Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center

Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center We are a Catholic place of peace, prayer, and reflection located in Norwood, Ohio. Joseph A. Bruemmer as President. the Divine Mercy chaplet is recited.

Our mission is to help you grow in faith, hope and love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through Mary, our Blessed Mother, in union with the Roman Catholic Church. Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center is located in the heart of Greater Cincinnati and sits on 13.1 acres of beautifully landscaped property in a residential area of Norwood, Ohio. This magnificent structure, originally built in 1920

under the direction of Archbishop Henry Moeller as a major seminary, has now become a Marian center under the leadership of a Board of Trustees made up of religious and laity, with Rev. On the same site, adjacent to Our Lady's Center, sits a stately twelve apartment structure with a large living room, kitchen, laundry, breakfast room, large dining room and office space. Built in 1911, this building is where Archbishop Moeller and all succeeding archbishops lived until the 1950's. Two Masses are celebrated daily in the chapels, and confessions are heard on Monday, Tuesday, and first and third Fridays in the late afternoons and/or early evenings. Many wonderful spiritual exercises have become a part of the Center's activities- weekdays at 3 P.M. Tenants include Our Lady's Work-Shop, Sacred Heart Radio, Men of the Sacred Heart, American Heritage Girls and Our Lady of Light Foundation. Retreat facilities have been renovated to complement the old seminary architecture. We can now house 90 retreatants and spacious meeting rooms can accommodate many day events as well. We have hosted many Catholic organizations from around the area, and are looking forward to welcoming many new groups for the upcoming year. Please call 351-9800 for information or a tour. Doors of the Center open each weekday morning at 8:00 a.m. and remain open until 8:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome to view the beautifully remodeled chapels, halls, offices, library, restrooms, meeting and assembly rooms. We ask for your prayers and support as we continue to fulfill the mission of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. www.olhsc.org

Our Managing Director especially remembers Father Timothy Vakoc, a Catholic priest and U.S. Army chaplain whom she had the privilege of serving with in Iraq in early 2004.

Father Vakoc willingly placed himself in danger to bring the sacraments, prayer, encouragement, and the peace of Christ to soldiers far from home β€” and even to Iraqi Catholics longing for the presence of the Church amid war and uncertainty.

On May 29, 2004, while returning from celebrating Mass for troops near Mosul, his vehicle was struck by an IED. Though he survived the attack, he never fully recovered from his injuries.

Father Vakoc once said, β€œThe safest place for me to be is in the center of God’s will.” He lived those words courageously.

As we honor all who have sacrificed for others, may we remember heroes like Father Tim Vakoc β€” men and women who answered a call greater than themselves.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.

πŸ•ŠOur hearts are filled with gratitude following a beautiful Pentecost Morning of Reflection at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. Thank you to everyone who joined us for Mass, prayer, fellowship, reflection, and tours of our Sacred Art & Holy Land exhibit. It was a blessing to gather together and celebrate the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

We are especially grateful to our wonderful guest speakers, Steve Leverone and Patty Green, for sharing their time, faith, and inspiring reflections with all who attended. Your generosity and witness helped make this morning truly meaningful.

Thank you as well to all of the volunteers, staff, and supporters who quietly worked behind the scenes to make the event possible. May the Holy Spirit continue to guide and strengthen each of us in the days ahead.

β€œAnd they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.” – Acts 2:4 πŸ”₯πŸ•Š

What burden are you carrying today?

Join us for the fourth session of our Visio Divina series as we prayerfully reflect on The Carrying of the Cross, the Fourth Sorrowful Mystery of the Rosary.

Through sacred art, Scripture, guided meditation, and a decade of the Rosary, we will walk beside Jesus on His journey to Calvary and discover how He strengthens us to carry our own crosses with faith and hope.
