Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center

Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center We are a Catholic place of peace, prayer, and reflection located in Norwood, Ohio. Joseph A. Bruemmer as President. the Divine Mercy chaplet is recited.

Our mission is to help you grow in faith, hope and love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through Mary, our Blessed Mother, in union with the Roman Catholic Church. Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center is located in the heart of Greater Cincinnati and sits on 13.1 acres of beautifully landscaped property in a residential area of Norwood, Ohio. This magnificent structure, originally built in 1920

under the direction of Archbishop Henry Moeller as a major seminary, has now become a Marian center under the leadership of a Board of Trustees made up of religious and laity, with Rev. On the same site, adjacent to Our Lady's Center, sits a stately twelve apartment structure with a large living room, kitchen, laundry, breakfast room, large dining room and office space. Built in 1911, this building is where Archbishop Moeller and all succeeding archbishops lived until the 1950's. Two Masses are celebrated daily in the chapels, and confessions are heard on Monday, Tuesday, and first and third Fridays in the late afternoons and/or early evenings. Many wonderful spiritual exercises have become a part of the Center's activities- weekdays at 3 P.M. Tenants include Our Lady's Work-Shop, Sacred Heart Radio, Men of the Sacred Heart, American Heritage Girls and Our Lady of Light Foundation. Retreat facilities have been renovated to complement the old seminary architecture. We can now house 90 retreatants and spacious meeting rooms can accommodate many day events as well. We have hosted many Catholic organizations from around the area, and are looking forward to welcoming many new groups for the upcoming year. Please call 351-9800 for information or a tour. Doors of the Center open each weekday morning at 8:00 a.m. and remain open until 8:00 p.m. Visitors are welcome to view the beautifully remodeled chapels, halls, offices, library, restrooms, meeting and assembly rooms. We ask for your prayers and support as we continue to fulfill the mission of Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. www.olhsc.org

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Happy Labor Day โ€” or, as our neighbors to the north say, Happy Labour Day! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Today, the United States and Canada share more than a border โ€” we also share a September tradition rooted in the efforts of working men and women who sought greater dignity, fairness, and recognition for their labor.

The labor movements on both sides of the border helped shape what would become Labor/Labour Day in the United States and in Canada, celebrated on the first Monday of September. Canadaโ€™s organized labor movement was already making its voice heard in the 1870s, and the first U.S. Labor Day celebration followed in New York City in 1882. By 1894, both nations had officially established the September holiday honoring workers.

There is something especially fitting about remembering that shared history today, as our Managing Director is celebrating โ€œLabour Dayโ€ with her family in Canada! ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆโค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

At Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, we are especially grateful for all those whose work sustains our mission โ€” our staff, clergy, volunteers, contractors, vendors, benefactors, and the countless people whose hands and hearts help care for this beautiful place.

As Catholics, we are reminded that work is more than simply a means of earning a living. Through honest work, we use the gifts God has given us, serve one another, provide for our families, and participate in the care of His creation.

On this Labor Day, may God bless all who work, all who are seeking work, all who have retired after many years of service, and all whose quiet labor often goes unseen.

From both sides of the border today โ€” Happy Labor Day! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

๐Ÿ’™ Grateful for Every Gift โ€” Large and Small ๐Ÿ’™

At Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center, we are continually reminded that this sacred place is sustained through the generosity of people and organizations who believe in our mission.

Recently, we have been blessed with several extraordinary gifts:

๐Ÿ™ $2,500 grant to provide new priest vestments and Mass vessels for Fr. Benjamin
๐Ÿ™ $3,800 gift from St Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church to cover the cost of a much-needed refrigerator for our Retreat Ministry
๐Ÿ™ $10,000 sponsorship from J.T.M. Food Group for our upcoming Fatherhood Workshop
๐Ÿ™ $500 gift from Gate of Heaven Cemetery in additional support of the Fatherhood Workshop

We cannot overstate our gratitude.

These gifts may support very different needs, but together they help make something much greater possible: a place where people can encounter Christ through prayer, worship, retreat, fellowship, and spiritual renewal.

Maintaining a 180,000-square-foot, century-old sacred building is a tremendous responsibility. It costs approximately $2,500 each day just to keep the lights on and our ministry operating. Our six full-time and twelve part-time staff members work alongside an incredible community of volunteers and adorers who give generously of their time and talents to help care for this holy place.

Every gift matters. A major sponsorship can help make a new ministry possible. A grant can provide something our priests or retreat guests need. And a gift of $5, $10, or $25 joins with countless others to help keep the doors open, the chapels welcoming, the retreats running, and the light shining.

No gift is too small, and no act of generosity goes unnoticed.

If you would like to learn more about ways you can help sustain Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center โ€” through financial support, gifts in kind, sponsorships, or volunteering โ€” we would love to hear from you.

Please contact Development Manager Charles Marks or Managing Director Dawn Shook at 513-351-9800 or [email protected]](mailto:[email protected]).

To J.T.M. Food Group, Gate of Heaven, our generous grant partners, donors, volunteers, adorers, and every person who helps care for this sacred place: Thank you! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Your generosity helps ensure that Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center will continue to be a place of peace, prayer, and encounter for generations to come. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ’™ Our hearts are restless until they rest in You.โ€ โ€” St. Augustine

On todayโ€™s Feast of Saint Augustine, those words seem especially meaningful to us at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center.

Because when people tell us *why* this place matters to them, again and again we hear the same words:

Peace. Prayer. Jesus. Home. Hope. Rest.

One longtime visitor wrote that because of the Center, her faith had deepened, and that every time she comes here she feels as though she is experiencing "a little piece of Heaven.โ€ She gives when she can because, in her words, she needs "Our Motherโ€™s house to always be here.โ€

Another shared:

โค๏ธ "Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center feels like home to me."

Another called the Center her "oasis of graceโ€ the place she comes when the world becomes too difficult, when she wants to feel close to Our Lady, or simply to sit with Jesus in Adoration.

And one donor perhaps said it most simply:

๐Ÿ™ "It truly is holy ground.โ€

These are not simply kind words to us. They are the reason this ministry exists.

For generations, people have walked through these doors carrying restless heartsโ€”some seeking quiet, some returning to the Church, some attending a retreat, some bringing their children or grandchildren, and some simply needing an hour with Jesus.

And because others before them cared enough to preserve this place, the doors were here when they needed them.

Today, we simply want to say Thank You!

Thank you to every person who has offered a prayer, volunteered an hour, attended a retreat, shared our ministry with a friend, or made a financial giftโ€”whether $5, $50, $5000 or more.

Together, you help make it possible for the next person who walks through our doors to discover the peace so many before them have found here.

Perhaps one donor expressed our hope best:

โ€œJesusโ€™ door is always open, we give so the doors to the Holy Spirit Center will also remain open.โ€

May Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center continue to be a place where restless hearts encounter Jesus Christ through Maryโ€”and find their rest in Him.

St. Augustine, pray for us.
Our Lady of the Holy Spirit, pray for us. ๐Ÿ’™

Come and See!

Today, August 24, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, one of the original Twelve Apostles and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

In todayโ€™s Gospel, Nathaniel asks Philip, โ€œCan anything good come from Nazareth?โ€ Philip simply responds, โ€œCome and see.โ€

Today, we extend that same invitation to you: Come and see!
Come and encounter Our Lord in the Holy Mass or spend time with Him in Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center.

Come into His presence. Come to pray, reflect, and find peace in the beauty of our gardens and halls.

Jesus is waiting for you. Come and see. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™
