Update from our collaborative youth group:
“We’re thankful for good weather as we worked to finish several tasks today. We painted rails and pickets on a back deck, rebuilt handrail and installed it on the front ramp, sealed the front ramp, and hauled off the brush we had cut.

Looking forward to finishing our day with some time outside at Hinton, along with dinner and worship this evening.”

Update from the Connect Youth on the third day of their trip:

“Proud of these youth for working through the rain today! We pressure washed a deck and stairs, continued to cut and remove some brush, and we finished the new flooring on the ramp. We hope to finish with the yard work and hand rails tomorrow for a sweet lady.

With a change of venue for the Appalachian culture night last night due to the rain, we stayed at Hinton last night and learned about different types of poverty and how our perspective can shape how we think about other people. The focus here is communicating well and listening well as we share stories.

We will head out tonight to learn contra dancing (which is something we had to look up after we heard about it), but is taught through the local folk school.

Please continue praying for good weather and good opportunities to learn and serve - we appreciate all the support from everyone at home!”

An update from the Connect Youth provided by Thomas Hahn: “Pictures from worship last night and work today. We’re working with an older lady clearing brush, cleaning gutters, and demolishing an older ramp to replace it with a new one. She brought out fresh peanut butter cookies to share with us this afternoon, which was a highlight for today!

Our team is working hard, learning new skills, and working well together.

We’ll be heading to an Appalachian culture night at a local folk school after supper tonight to hear some music and learn more about the local area and its history.”

In last week's sermon Pastor Hanna preached about finding the joy in life, and finding time to play - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! What a joy-filled day it was celebrating and worshiping God with these beautiful, amazing children! A million thanks to VBS director Tammy, all the village of volunteers who so willingly and JOYFULLY shared their time and talents, everyone who donated supplies, everyone who brought their kids - it was truly a Spirit-filled day! Sorry (not sorry) for the picture overload - I just couldn't edit out all the fun and JOY!!
