We are headed to Minneapolis this Friday! “Love Goes Farther” is our way of putting faith into action—this time showing love and support to Somalis who have been called “garbage” from the national stage.

Our dream is to arrive with $5,000 to bless the Minneapolis community. This involves donating to local non-profits and meeting with those affected by lies & hatred.

Congratulations to Pastor Adam! He received the 2026 Daniel D. Jenkins, Jr., Memorial Award from the Norwich NAACP in recognition of “advancing the welfare of our community, strengthening race relations, and fostering a more connected and inclusive community for all.”

Pastor Adam also received official proclamations at Friday’s Juneteenth celebration outside City Hall:

* U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy: “Your dedication to community empowerment and cultural enrichment as the founding and lead pastor of Castle Church serves as a profound example for fellow leaders across the state…The leadership you have displayed to help break down barriers to advance and help champion the cause of civil rights brings tremendous pride to the State of Connecticut.”
* U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney: “Your steadfast advocacy for the welfare of the Black community, strengthening race relations, and promoting inclusivity in and beyond the City of Norwich is admirable.”
* Mayor Swarnjit Singh and the Norwich City Council: “Adam Bowles has dedicated his career to serving others through education, ministry, and community engagement, while advocating for vulnerable populations and fostering a spirit of compassion, inclusion, and most strongly, hope.”
* State of Connecticut official citation introduced by Sen. Cathy Osten, Rep. Derell Wilson, Rep. Larry Pemberton, Jr., and Rep. Doug Dubinsky.

Pastor Adam said: “I want to keep company with those who aren’t afraid to tell the truth and to speak truth to power. The thing about that though is when you are keeping company with truth telling and truth tellers you are going to find out that the path is really narrow because it costs something….Juneteenth is a reckoning with the truth. There were those who had the audacity, the arrogance, to think they could gate-keep people’s dignity. The fact is God gave us all dignity, equally.”

Castle has the honor of hosting the following event Sunday that was initiated by the Norwich Interfaith Association. We hope you’ll join us as we stand against hate and racism and celebrate the bonds that unite our community!

Join us on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Castle Church, 4 Broadway, Norwich, as we officially launch the Love Lives Here Campaign: One Norwich, Many Stories, One Community.

This campaign is about building belonging, celebrating our diversity, and creating a Norwich where everyone feels seen, heard, valued, and welcomed.

Come meet your neighbors, learn about the campaign, sign the Community Pledge Against Hate and Racism, and help us build a stronger, more connected community.
This is just the beginning. The launch marks the start of a growing movement of storytelling, community conversations, partnerships, and initiatives designed to bring people together and strengthen the bonds that unite us.

Because love is louder than hate.

And together, we are Norwich.

At Castle, we take seriously our call to care for the people society judges as “the least of these.”

Jesus Himself said authentic faith actively demonstrates love toward the immigrant, the poor, the widow, and the orphan.

Right now, Somali immigrants in Minnesota are constant targets of dehumanization. We believe the church shouldn’t remain silent while the powerful mistreat them.

From June 26–29, three of us are heading to Minneapolis for our third Love Goes Farther mission to stand in solidarity with this community.

We will attend Somali Day, part of the largest celebration of Somali culture outside of Somalia, and raise funds to support Isuroon, a nonprofit empowering Somali women, alongside other vital needs.

We are nearly a quarter of the way to our goal! Every donation, no matter the amount, is a stand against hatred and a declaration that we are all made in the image of God.
