What happens when an atmospheric river forms during cold weather? It brings massive moisture, resulting in heavy accumulations of snow, with blizzard conditions. Can we say Storm Gail all over again?
📷
What are we doing to prepare?
Equipment & Material checks
special attention to temperature to decide best course of action for material being used
Review of site map & push plans with crews for priority areas during large storms & final clean up detail
Review of Storm Gail Lessons Learned & Hot Sites for special plan of action with team to avoid repeat issues
review of app compliance & retraining as needed
Site Manager Touchbase to for shipping/receiving times & work with site managers for cart collecting plan of action
Continue to watch weather for strategic pre-salting & updates to service plan with team
as we get closer we will update with sites affected & predicted accumulation totals
What would help us:
reinforce to the stores the importance to make time with us for storm-preplanning
importance of enough staff to collect carts timely can affect our ability to plow properly, and can create conditions that make it hard for us to keep up, and wrap up timely
if stores report a service request, to be detailed & if possible, supply photos---this will assist in a fast turnaround to their priorities
check the other side of building, crew may be onsite already
we will reinforce to check in w/SM for plan of action upon arrival & before departure
crew will only leave during a large storm to refuel/or to grab more material
our salt piles are located within 20 minutes, which will result in a 45 minute to 1 hour turnaround time
