Update on dad 11/14/22- Today dad surprised us all. He got released from the hospital got to come home. He has worked his tail off over this last week and proved to the Therapist that he did not need inpatient rehab. Instead they have signed him up for outpatient therapy. We all are beyond happy! Dad is a very strong willed person and when he puts his mind to something he makes it happen. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for him; the love and warmth for him has been very humbling. Please continue to pray for his recovery as he still has a long road until he is 100%.

I haven't posted for a couple of days so here is the update on dad for the lest couple of days 11/9/22- Dad is making progress, yesterday he was able to get up and start walking and ate solid food. Today, he had the RVAD taken out which wiped him out while his body was acclamating itself to take the full load on its own. This afternoon Angela K Beltz and I were able to visit dad and had spent the evening with him. The plans for dad's recovery are unfolding day by day, but as of right now the plans are to discharge dad from the ICU to the U of I rehab hospital across town early next week where he Will spend 2-3 weeks in intensive cardiac rehab to strengthen his heart and body as his extremities are weak on the right side of his body and has lost some fine motor skills in his right hand. Please continue to pray for dad abs his recovery, the next few weeks are going to be a hard road for him and he cab use all the love and warmth that he can get.

Update on dad 11/7/22- Dad had another good couple of days of healing. He is able to talk, and is now eating soft foods. Doctors are looking at possibly taking him off the RVAD this week sometime so he can get up and moving again. Please continue to pray for dad's recovery and healing as he still has a long way to go.

Update on dad.. so most of you know that dad had a triple bypass and aortic valve replacement here at UIHC and with a little scare.. he ended up with a double bypass, a couple stents, and the aortic valve replacement (due to not being able to get to the 3rd artery due to scare tissue).
It's been a long week but he is making good improvements. We are thankful for all of the prayers and support. Dad is now off of the ECMO machine as of Monday night and placed on a RVAD. He is breathing on his own now with good oxygen stats. They do still have the incubation tube in on a CPAP setting but they are trying to wean him off. He's opening his eyes here and there and his vitals are stable. They did say that his blood pressure had been going up and down as they back off some of the medications that they are giving, but are monitorong it. They have also been suctioning and giving him antibiotics to prevent pneumonia, but he is progressing well thanks to God and all the prayers. I will try to update on this page to as I am able. Thanks so much for your support and please continue to pray for a fast recovery and healing. Please feel free to share.. I know there is many people asking and worried about him and unfortunately I don't have everyone on here to share to do it is much appreciated.
Thanks again
Nichole
