What does it mean to truly hear God's voice? In Acts 16, we see Paul and Timothy stopped in their tracks—not once, but twice—by the Holy Spirit redirecting their mission. They were trying to do good things, but God had a specific plan.

Here's the challenge: Are we so busy doing "good Christian things" that we miss what God is actually calling us to do? The enemy loves to keep us occupied with activity while we miss our divine assignment. Paul recognized the Spirit's voice because he spent time with the Lord. He knew the difference between his own ideas and God's direction.

This Sunday's message asks the tough questions: Do you know His voice? Have you experienced His presence, or are you just checking in and out of church? God is calling us to repentance, to lay down our idols—whether that's our culture, our work, or our comfort—and run toward Him. Only through the Spirit can we walk in our true purpose and see lives transformed.

Midweek Devotional:

Multiplication Through Mission

Reading: Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-15

From Jerusalem to Judea to Samaria to the ends of the earth—God's mission has always been Gospel multiplication. When believers share their faith and make disciples, churches organically emerge. If gospel advancement depended solely on you and your church, would it stop or continue growing? The early church didn't strategize church planting; they simply made disciples, and churches multiplied naturally. Soul-winning isn't a program; it's a lifestyle of compassion that compels us to share Christ. Every generation must pass the faith forward. You are part of God's mission to reach your community and world. Who in your Judea (community), Samaria (uncomfortable places), or uttermost parts needs to hear the Gospel from you? Don't wait for perfect conditions or complete confidence. God uses ordinary, willing people to accomplish extraordinary things.

John Mark quit during the first missionary journey, yet God wasn't finished with him. Later, Paul himself requested Mark's presence, calling him "profitable for ministry.” God would use Mark to write one of the four Gospels. Your past failures don't define your future usefulness to God. He specializes in using “crackpots”; broken, flawed people who surrender to His purposes. Perhaps you've quit on something God called you to, or turned away from organized “church-life”, or maybe just don’t feel usable. God's grace is greater than your greatest failure. He doesn't need perfect people; He transforms willing and obedient people. Barnabas saw potential in Mark when others saw only failure. Who might God be calling you to share your faith with, lead to Jesus, disciple, encourage, or pray for? More importantly, will you let God restore and use you despite your brokenness?

Discipleship was never meant to stop with you. Paul invested in Timothy. Timothy invested in others. Faith multiplied through people willing to live it out. Following Jesus isn’t just gaining knowledge… it’s becoming more like Him and helping someone else do the same.

Today we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom carries a cost, and we are deeply grateful.

As you spend time with family, enjoy a cookout, or simply slow down for the day, take a moment to reflect, pray, and give thanks.

“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

We’re praying for peace, comfort, and God’s blessing over military families, those grieving loss, and all who have served. 🇺🇸

When is the last time you shared your faith? Led someone to Christ? Discipled another believer? These aren't questions reserved for pastors—they're for every follower of Jesus. In Acts 15:36-41, we see Paul and Barnabas driven by a deep care for people's souls, compelled to check on the believers they'd left behind. Their mission wasn't about numbers or buildings—it was about people and eternity.

Here's the beautiful truth: God uses broken people for His great mission. Even when Paul and Barnabas had a sharp disagreement, God multiplied their ministry into two teams reaching more people. Your past failures don't define you. John Mark quit on the first journey but later wrote the Gospel of Mark and became profitable to Paul's ministry.

The Great Commission isn't just for church leaders—it's for all of us. A biblically healthy church isn't measured by attendance but by whether we're sharing our faith, making disciples, and caring for souls. God can use your brokenness for His greatness. The question is: will you let Him?

Midweek Devotional: Don’t Build Your Faith on Borrowed Truth

Reading: Acts 17:11; 2 Timothy 2:15

The Bereans in Acts were called noble because they didn’t just accept what they heard. They searched the Scriptures daily to see if it was true. Think about that for a second… even when an apostle preached, they still opened God’s Word for themselves.

We live in a world overflowing with opinions, clips, reels, podcasts, and inspirational quotes. It’s easier than ever to build a faith on someone else’s words instead of God’s Word. But borrowed conviction rarely survives real storms.

Paul told Timothy to “rightly handle the word of truth.” Not twist it. Not cherry pick it. Not shape it around comfort or culture. Handle it carefully.

The question for today isn’t, “Did I hear something encouraging?” The question is, “Am I rooted in what God actually says?”

Because encouragement fades.
Trends change.
Feelings rise and fall.

Truth remains.

Maybe today looks less like searching for another sermon and more like opening your Bible for 10 quiet minutes and asking:

God, show me who You are… and show me where I need to change.

His Word was never meant to simply inspire you. It was meant to transform you.

We’re called to know God’s Word… and handle it carefully.

Because adding to Scripture can be just as dangerous as ignoring it.

Truth doesn’t bend to us. We bend to truth.

Why do we make following Jesus harder than it needs to be? This Sunday we explored Acts 15 and a powerful truth: salvation is by grace alone through faith in Christ—nothing more, nothing less.

The early church faced people who wanted to add requirements to the Gospel. Sound familiar? We still do this today. But here's the beautiful truth: Christ's sacrifice is enough. His grace covers ALL our sin—past, present, and future. You can't earn it. You don't deserve it. That's what makes it grace.

Stop letting the enemy convince you that you need to do more or be more. Jesus said, "Repent and believe." That's it. His grace is free, but it wasn't cheap—it cost Him everything. Have you accepted this undeserved favor? Are you living in the freedom of grace, or are you exhausted trying to earn what's already been given?

God's love for you is inexhaustible. Don't compromise the Gospel by adding to it. Grace plus nothing equals everything.

This past Sunday we had a special message on motherhood from Hannah, found in 1 Samuel 1. Motherhood is far more than routines, responsibilities, and daily sacrifices. In Hannah’s story, we see a woman who remained faithful to God even while carrying deep heartache and disappointment. Though she endured ridicule, loneliness, and years of unanswered prayers, Hannah continued to worship, trust, and seek the Lord with all her heart. Her life reminds us that faithfulness is often forged in difficult seasons, and God sees every unseen burden a mother carries. Whether through prayer, encouragement, sacrifice, or quiet strength, godly mothers leave spiritual fingerprints that impact our world for generations.

Hannah also teaches us the beauty of surrender and prayerful dependence upon God. She poured out her soul before the Lord, trusting and surrendering to the Father even before she saw an answer to her prayer. In due time God remembered her and blessed her with Samuel. Yet Hannah’s greatest act was not simply receiving the blessing, but surrendering it back to God for His purposes. We should be thankful that we have mothers today who continue to model this same kind of faith when they pray for their children, trust God through uncertainty, and point their families toward Christ. The world may overlook the quiet influence of a faithful mother, but God honors the love, devotion, and spiritual impact she carries every single day.

As a mother, your surrender isn't just sacrifice; it's investing in Kingdom purposes. You are more than a mom. You are a child of God, a disciple-maker, a prayer warrior, and a vessel of God's faithfulness to the next generation.

Faithfulness isn’t pretending life is easy. It’s choosing to stay anchored to God when life isn’t. Hannah found her strength in the Lord, and that same strength is available to us today. Stay faithful, even when it’s difficult.
