Dear Families in Christ,
The season of Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday is almost upon us.
“Lent” is derived from the Old English word “lencten” meaning “spring” or “rebirth”. As the earth undergoes a renewal after the toll of winter, we undergo spiritual renewal through prayer, penance, almsgiving, and self denial as a means of preparing to celebrate Easter.
Lent is a time to refocus on God’s unconditional love and mercy, revealed to us through the Paschal Mystery, the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ. It is time for us to clean up our lives, instill better habits, and recognize that not everyone in our world is as fortunate as we are.
Our lives are filled with so much noise. Lent is a chance to silence some of that noise, at least momentarily, to focus on the most important things in our lives. Just as Jesus found a way to escape regularly into the desert from the crush of people crowding around him, we are invited to change our routine.
How can you create a little space for yourself to refocus your spiritual life this Lent?
Please find the schedule for this most Holy season in this post. All services will also be live streamed on our web site.
