Small Christ
Devotion by Pastor Rich Bitterman

Fear has a way of making Christ look smaller than He is.

I know that feeling. I know because fear has narrowed my own vision. It can turn a stack of unknowns or one late-night thought into the largest thing in the room. Christ has not changed. My sight has.
Then Scripture lifts my eyes: “And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17).

All things.

The breath in my lungs or the burden on my shoulders or the sorrow I cannot lift. The tomorrow with its locked doors and unanswered questions. Christ holds what my hands cannot.

So, I do not need a smaller problem this morning. I need a larger sight of Jesus.
The cross tells me He loved me with blood. The empty tomb tells me He reigns with scars. Today, He will hold me together.

Colossians 1:16-17 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (ESV)

Everyday Wisdom for the Soul
by Pamela L. McQuade

BLESSED MERCY

“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.” Matthew 5:7 (NKJV)

Give mercy, and you will receive it—that’s often true I our world, and it’s even more true in eternal terms.
As Christians, we have received God’s great mercy. We cannot complain no one offered us compassion, because He gave us so much in one large package marked “salvation.” All our sins are behind His back, never to be brought to our attention again. Yet His mercy didn’t end there. Daily He renews His gifts as we live for Him. As we wake each morning and go to sleep every night, we can thank Him for His watchful care and ask His forgiveness all over again for the wrongs of the day.
Should we hold on to our mercy and not pass it on to any we come in contact with each day, we betray God’s work. He didn’t offer us forgiveness for our sins so that we could hold a grudge against another or demand the final payment for every sin against us. Acting that way ruins our Christian testimony. Satan is the one who demands full payment for every wrong, not God. The Savior offers the blessing of forgiveness based on His life’s sacrifice.
But when we offer mercy to others, not only does God approve, people often recognize the good we’ve done and are more likely to give us a break too. The forgiven offender is likely to be less critical of us when we make mistakes. The one we’ve helped is usually willing to help us out when we’re in a pinch.
The ebb and flow of mercy is just what God had in mind. Mercy, passed around the world by kindhearted Christians, changes a lot of attitudes and hearts.

Encounter God in Prayer … The Beauty of Silence
From “Prayers on Fire” by Brian Simmons and Gretchen Rodriguez

In the stillness, you are here. You don’t speak a word, yet the reality of your love is louder than a million voices. My thoughts are quiet; I feel you—breathing life into the depths of my spirit.

Your glory shines through the darkness that surrounds me, rising on the horizon of my heart. You touch me with the vibrancy of a brilliant sunrise. Come closer. Share your secrets with me. Teach me to soar above the clouds, where all I can hear is the sweetness of your love.

You’re as radiant as a bridegroom on his wedding day. You don’t need to say a word, for when you look at me with those eyes of zealous love, I’m overcome. This feels like a dream. The King of the universe has chosen me!

I surrender in holy worship, leaning into your embrace. Now, the only sound I hear is the beating of a lovesick heart—yours and mine. Tangled knots of tangible affection. You’re the beauty of silence.

Each day gushes out its message to the next, night by night whispering its knowledge to all—without a sound, without a word, without a voice being heard. Psalm 19:2-3 (TPT)

Jesus Calling … Jesus Today
by Sarah Young

Focus on enjoying Me and all that I am to you
—even though your circumstances scream for
resolution. Refuse to obsess about your problems
and how you are going to fix them. Instead, affirm
your trust in Me; wait hopefully in My Presence,
and watch to see what I will do.

“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you
become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall
again praise Him for the help of His presence.”
Psalms 42:5 (NASB)

Encounter God’s Heart…Living Honorably
From: “Wrapped in Christ” by Brian Simmons

As the days run into each other, we can get so caught up in the busyness of our lives and responsibilities that we forget to pay attention to our values. There will always be more to do if we look at life as an endless checklist. However, all we have is this moment. Do we leave time to rest and recharge? Do we make space for loved ones and community care?

True wisdom does not rush from one obligation to the next. It knows what is most important and makes room. True wisdom realizes that becoming more present in our lives means tuning into our values and making changes to live according to them. Honorable living is intentional; it does not happen by chance. May we live into this awareness, turning our attention to the Lord and to what we know is our part in the here and now.

Wise God, there is no other God before or after you. All wisdom is from you and found in you. I look to you even as I become more aware of the gift of the present moment.

Be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes. Ephesians 5:15-16 (TPT)

Excerpts from “May Devotion: God Sends the Rain”
by Pastor Joshua Bodden

I actually love the rain…walking outside…breathing in that “rain smell. … And rain brings a visible change. It transforms wilting vegetation into healthy and thriving plants. My yard turns lush and green after just a little bit of rain, and the fields seem like they grow a foot overnight. When God blesses us with rain, it has an effect. It does something. It brings positive change.

That’s the same thing God’s Word does: “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11).

When we read the Bible, we are changed. God uses it to warn us of sin, he pours his message of mercy on us, and he grows us in faith. And when we bring that Word to others, it also has an effect. Sometimes it doesn’t always seem as visible, but it certainly works as God desires.

….. I am (eternally) living evidence that God works through his Word, just as he promises. That’s why I want all people to stand in the refreshing downpour of the Bible and be renewed in the love of God. Let God “water” your faith today! Amen.

I hope that you enjoy rain as much as I do, and God’s Word even more! God bless you!

I Hear His Whisper ….
by Brian Simmons and Gretchen ROdriquez

Let a roar rise from within.

Be bold and courageous until faith spills out from you. Your faith must grow in order for you to receive the promises I have made to you. I will fulfill every word of promise over your life as you partner with me. Do not listen to the voices that tell you to be passive, for I have called you to exercise your faith. I will make you mighty in me to do great exploits. Giants are defeated all around you as fear is defeated within you. Let a roar rise from within, and it will silence the voice of the enemy.

Never doubt my power to fulfill your destiny and to make your dreams come true. I am the Father of fulfilled dreams and the God of sovereign power. Nothing can defeat my plan for your life, except for your fear and passivity. Arise now, my child, and place your feet upon the promises; make them yours, see them fulfilled, and go out to conquer. I am your God, and I will never leave you or abandon you. Shout with victorious joy over these truths!

Hebrews 10:35-35 Don’t lose your bold, courageous faith, for you are destined for a great reward! You need the strength of endurance to reveal the poetry of God’s will and then you receive the promise in full.

From Jesus Listens by Sarah Young

Even when everything seems to be going wrong,
I can fight discouragement through my trust in You.
I know that You are a God of surprises—not limited
by the way things are or by the paltry possibilities
I can see.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is
Impossible, but with God all things are possible”
Matthew 19:26 (NIV)

And Jonathan and I celebrated our anniversary in the middle of all this! ❤️❤️
But, I didn't take any pictures.😐

Therapist: “How often do you feel responsible for everyone’s mood?”
Me: “…is ‘yes’ an option?” 😅

Stepmom life be like:
Managing emotions, keeping the peace, reading the room… meanwhile your own feelings are like, “hello??”

Friendly reminder:
You are allowed to clock out emotionally sometimes.
Self-care isn’t selfish—it’s survival.

Go drink your coffee while it’s hot.
Take the long shower.
Say “I’ll deal with that later.”

The house will survive. And so will they. 😂
Have a wonderful weekend 🤍
