Small Christ
Devotion by Pastor Rich Bitterman
Fear has a way of making Christ look smaller than He is.
I know that feeling. I know because fear has narrowed my own vision. It can turn a stack of unknowns or one late-night thought into the largest thing in the room. Christ has not changed. My sight has.
Then Scripture lifts my eyes: “And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:17).
All things.
The breath in my lungs or the burden on my shoulders or the sorrow I cannot lift. The tomorrow with its locked doors and unanswered questions. Christ holds what my hands cannot.
So, I do not need a smaller problem this morning. I need a larger sight of Jesus.
The cross tells me He loved me with blood. The empty tomb tells me He reigns with scars. Today, He will hold me together.
Colossians 1:16-17 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. (ESV)
