Join us in prayer for those impacted by devastating flash flooding along the border of Nepal and Tibet today. We pray especially for the families and loved ones of those who have died or remain missing, and for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.

Over the past week, people across the Midwest U.S. have been impacted by historic levels of flash flooding and severe storms. At least seven people have died, and thousands of residents have been affected by devastating home and infrastructure damage.

UMCOR is responding to the needs of these individuals and families through solidarity grants to the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodist Church and the Indiana Conference of The United Methodist Church - INUMC, which will amplify their relief efforts as they distribute supplies and support local churches that are preparing and distributing food and helping residents with flood clean-up.

Please join us in prayer for the people of Hawaii as they experience damaging winds, storm surge and flash flooding from Tropical Storm Lala. Previously a category 1 hurricane, Lala has damaged at least 100 homes and left more than 200,000 residents without power as it continues to bring heavy rain and wind across the islands today.

As the California-Pacific Conference of the United Methodist Church assesses the needs of Hawaiians impacted by Lala, UMCOR stands ready to support their relief and recovery efforts.

Please join us in prayer for the people of eastern Indonesia impacted by a powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake today. Several large-scale aftershocks caused damage in other regions across the country as well.

At least 47 people have died, hundreds have been injured, and thousands of residents have been displaced from their homes. Disruptions to communications outages and damage to roadways have complicated search and rescue efforts, especially in remote villages.

UMCOR is in communication with our partners in the region, including the Methodist Church in Indonesia, and we stand ready to support their efforts to provide immediate relief to those in need.

Join us in prayer for those impacted by historic levels of flash flooding and severe storms across multiple states in the Midwest United States this week, including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, and Ohio. Widespread evacuations, damage to homes and businesses, and multiple deaths have been reported, with several areas still under flood watch today.

UMCOR is in close communication with the affected annual conferences, and we stand ready to support their response efforts as they care for their communities in need.

Please join us in prayer for the people of Colombia who were impacted by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake this morning, the strongest to strike the country in the last decade. At least 281 people have died, and thousands more are injured, missing, or have been displaced from their homes. As first responders and search and rescue teams uncover the devastating toll of this disaster, we pray for them and their efforts, and we mourn with those who have lost loved ones.

UMCOR stands ready to respond through support to our humanitarian and ecumenical partners in Colombia and across Latin America. We will share response updates on social media as they become available.

Where and when do you encounter stillness in your soul?

"Be Still, My Soul" (no. 534 in The United Methodist Hymnal) is an 18th-century German hymn written by Katherine von Schlegel and translated by Jane Borthwick. The song invites us to focus less on our cares and more on the strong presence of God in our lives. Though the world around us changes, God's faithfulness remains.

It is a timeless message! πŸ™

Join us in prayer for people in eastern Washington state, especially near Spokane, who are under threat from wildfires. Pray that those who must evacuate do so safely. Pray also for first responders working to contain the fires and helping those in need of assistance. As Gov. Bob Ferguson stated, β€œIf you are in the area, please continue to be vigilant and follow directions of emergency personnel.”

UMCOR is in communication with the The Pacific Northwest Conference of The United Methodist Church CDRC and stand ready to assist their recovery efforts as needed.
