How do we know when God is speaking to us? His voice doesn't always come as an audible sound. Sometimes, it's a gentle nudge, a fleeting thought, or a quiet prompting in our hearts. Learning to recognize His voice means learning to draw closer to Him and know His Word.

Here are 5 things the voice of God does:

📖 1. It Aligns with Scripture
God will never contradict His Word. Scripture is our foundation and helps us discern truth from our own thoughts. 2 Timothy 3:16–17

❤️ 2. It Convicts, Not Condemns
God may lovingly correct us and show us where we need to change, but His conviction draws us toward repentance and restoration, not hopelessness and shame. Romans 8:1

🕊️ 3. It Brings Peace, Not Confusion
God is not the author of confusion. As we seek Him, we can trust His character and His Word to guide us. 1 Corinthians 14:33

⏳ 4. It Is Persistent, Patient, and Pursuing
God is faithful to call us closer to Him. Like a shepherd who knows His sheep, He leads those who belong to Him, and His sheep learn to recognize His voice. John 10:25–30

🙏 5. It Calls Us to Faith, Not Fear
God doesn't promise that we'll never face difficult things, but He reminds us that we don't face them alone. He calls us to trust Him even when we cannot see the whole picture. Isaiah 41:10; 2 Timothy 1:7

Sometimes, we're waiting for God to speak in a big, unmistakable way, when He may already be prompting us in the quiet moments. A nudge to pray. A reminder to reach out to someone. A stirring in our hearts to take a step of faith.

God doesn't always show us the whole path. Sometimes, He simply asks us to take the first step and trust Him with the rest.

Are we quiet enough to listen? Are we willing to obey when He leads?

Following Jesus is about more than believing in Him. It's about surrendering our lives to Him and choosing to follow Him, even when it's hard. Jesus never promised that following Him would always be easy, but He did call us to take up our cross and follow Him.

Here are 8 things it means to take up your cross:

❤️ 1. Deny Yourself
Say no to your own desires when they conflict with God's will. It's not about getting your way; it's about surrendering to His way.

📖 2. Follow Jesus Every Day
Spend time in His Word, pray, seek His presence, and let Him guide your steps. Following Jesus is a daily decision, not just a Sunday commitment.

🦋 3. Let Go of Your Old Life
When you belong to Christ, you are made new. You don't have to keep living as the person you used to be. Let God transform your heart and your life.

🙏 4. Choose Obedience Over Comfort
Sometimes doing what God asks will stretch you, challenge you, and take you out of your comfort zone. Follow Him even when the easy choice is to walk away.

💔 5. Accept Sacrifice and Loneliness
Following Jesus may mean standing alone, being misunderstood, or giving up things the world tells you to hold on to. But even when others don't understand, you are never beyond God's presence.

🕊️ 6. Trust God Even When You Don't Understand
You won't always understand His timing, His plans, or the path He's leading you down. Faith means trusting His character even when you cannot see the outcome.

🌟 7. Live for Something Greater Than Yourself
Your life has a purpose beyond your own plans and desires. When you surrender to God, He can use your life to love others, serve others, and bring glory to His name.

📣 8. Proclaim the Gospel
Never be ashamed of Jesus. Share His love, stand firm in your faith, and let your life point others to Him.

And remember this: Jesus showed us exactly what it means to take up the cross. He endured unimaginable pain, suffering, humiliation, and shame. Yet, even as He hung on the cross, He prayed: “Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.” Even in His suffering, Jesus showed mercy. Even in His agony, He was fulfilling the Father's plan of salvation. He did not stop loving, forgiving, or giving Himself for others.

Taking up your cross means choosing Jesus when it's hard, obeying when it's uncomfortable, loving when it hurts, and trusting when you don't understand.

It's not about living for yourself anymore. It's about living for the One who gave everything for you. ❤️

📖 VERSE OF THE MONTH | PROVERBS 3:5–6 📖

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

Sometimes, we don't understand why things happen the way they do. We may not know what comes next, which direction to take, or how everything will work out. But we don't have to have all the answers when we put our trust in the One who does. ❤️

This month, let’s remember to trust God not just when life makes sense, but also when it doesn't. Seek Him in our decisions, lean on Him in our uncertainty, and have faith that He will guide our steps.

We may not know the way, but we can trust the One who leads us. 🙏

What a beautiful reminder to walk by faith and trust Him with every step!

❤️ I WANT MY LIFE TO BE A HALLELUJAH. ❤️

Not just a song I sing on Sunday morning, but a life that worships Him every single day.

I want the world to see His light shining through me. In the way I love others, in the kindness I show, in the grace I give, and even in the way I handle the hard days.

I know I won't always get it right, but my prayer is that when people see me, they see a little more of Jesus. That my words bring encouragement, my actions reflect His love, and my life points others back to Him.

The world doesn't need more of us trying to shine on our own. It needs more of us letting THE LIGHT OF JESUS SHINE THROUGH US. ✨

May our lives be a living hallelujah, bringing glory to the One who deserves it all.

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16

I don’t have a religion. I have a relationship. I don’t follow crowds; I follow Jesus.

The world will tell you to go one way, the crowd may lead you another, but our calling is to follow Jesus, even when we have to walk a different path. It’s not about looking religious on the outside. It’s about knowing Him, trusting Him, loving Him, and allowing Him to change your heart from the inside out.

We aren’t called to follow the crowd. We’re called to follow Christ. 🙌

In the waiting, in the hurting, in the healing, and in the moments when we didn’t know which way to turn, there was Jesus. ❤️

Sometimes we see Him working in the big, beautiful moments of life. Other times, we only recognize His presence when we look back and realize we were never walking alone.

He was there in the prayers only spoken through tears. He was there in the seasons that tested our faith. He was there in the moments we felt weak, the days we felt forgotten, and the times we couldn’t understand what God was doing.

Even when we couldn't see the way forward, Jesus was there.

Whatever season you're walking through today, remember that the same Jesus who carried you through yesterday is with you right now. You may still be waiting. You may still be hurting. You may still be praying for healing. But you are never beyond the reach of His presence.

And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:20

Whatever you're facing today, take heart. There was Jesus. There is Jesus. And He will be there tomorrow, too.🙌

🌿 BE PRESENT WITH THE LORD 🌿

Sometimes we are so busy asking God for the next thing that we forget to simply be with Him.

Slow down.
Be still.
Look around.
Listen.

There is something about standing beneath a beautiful sky, hearing the birds sing, watching the sunrise, or sitting quietly in His house that reminds us just how majestic our God truly is.

His presence is not something we have to chase. He is already here.

This Sunday, take a moment to put down the distractions and simply be present with the Lord. Worship Him. Thank Him. Marvel at His creation. Rest in His goodness.

Come worship with us this Sunday. We’d love to have you. 🤍

💪 Small Group Spotlight: Men’s Small Group 💪

There’s something powerful about men coming together, not just to fellowship, but to encourage one another, grow in faith, and dig into God’s Word together. 🙏🏻

Our Men’s Small Group is a place where friendships can grow, conversations can happen, and men can challenge and encourage one another in their walk with Christ.

We all need people around us who will pray with us, speak truth into our lives, and walk alongside us through the ups and downs. Faith was never meant to be lived out alone. 🤍

Whether you’ve been walking with the Lord for years or you’re just beginning to seek Him, there is a place for you here.

Come join the men of Bethabara for a time of fellowship, Bible study, encouragement, and growth. Bring a friend. Come as you are. Pull up a chair and be part of the brotherhood. 🙌🏻
