Whew yall I’ve been reading in 2 Kings and I absolutely love 19:20, 19:34, 18:35 and 19:35.
Was reading where Sennacherib came against Jerusalem. He tried to intimidate Hezekiah and basically told the people not to trust God and that God had not heard Hezekiah’s prayer. Sennacherib openly challenged God BUT God DEFENDED HIS PEOPLE! Hezekiah prayed and God intervened.
2 Kings 18:35 - Sennacherib essentially said what makes you think your God can save you? He put God in the same category as the other gods that he had already defeated…big mistake!! He tried to turn the people against Hezekiah and told them not to let Hezekiah convince them that the Lord will rescue them, but they stayed quiet. Hezekiah tore his clothes, put on sack cloth and went to the Lord.
2 Kings 19:6 - God told him to not be afraid of the words that he had heard. He also told Sennacherib that he had blasphemed and exalted himself against the Holy One of Israel….God basically said you think you can come against Jerusalem because you’re so powerful? But God knew exactly where he had been and what he’d been doing.
2 Kings 19:35 - The Angel of the Lord went forth and killed 185,000 Assyrian soldiers. Then Senncherib went home and two of his sons killed him. He made a lot of mistakes - and one was assuming that God was just another god and that He could be defeated.
Hezekiah’s response is what stands out to me though….when he couldn’t fight the battle himself, he went to the Lord🙌🙌 He put on sackcloth and went to God. We don’t have to fight every battle or listen to every lie that the enemy tells us. We need to stand still sometimes and take it to the Lord! Don’t let what the enemy says determine what you believe God can and will do!! He will fight and defend us! I’m so thankful that He’s the same and I can still go to Him in prayer! 🙌😭🙌😭.
Get back Satan cause we believe that you will fight for us and work things out for our good!
