TOMORROW EVENING, 4/23 - FREE
CALLED AS COMMUNITY IN FRACTURED TIMES
Alan Storey - South African activist, preacher and story-teller
6:30pm: Gathering for music and light snacks; 6:45 - 8:00 event
Free and open to the public. Registration not required.
Location: St. John’s Hall, St. John's Lutheran Church, 500 third Street West

Recent events in our community have revealed fractures in our lives together and also demonstrated the depth and breadth of our care for our neighbors. Each of us lives from a theology of what we value and believe. What can stories from resistance movements in this country and in South Africa teach us about the calls to continued courage and healing in this present moment? Prompted by questions from Northfield community members, Alan Storey - South African activist, preacher and story-teller - will engage with us in conversation about how we might live into our commitments to community wholeness.

It has been claimed by people in our Administration that we are engaged in a holy war, and we are doing God's work. Blessed are the peacemakers appears to be an unrealistic ideal. Our President posted an AI image if himself as Jesus, but then claimed he was presenting himself as a doctor. Our VP, a recent Christian convert has said that Pope Leo XIV should be more careful when talking about theology. You can't make this stuff up. The Christian Church has a Just War theory. The war in Iran does not make the grade. Is it just bad theology, or is it heresy to claim that God is endorsing and blessing destruction and death? We meet this Thursday, 7:00 pm at The Contented Cow.
