Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church

Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church Meet people who care By 1980, that eventually grew to the size where a church was required to hold all the those who attended.

The Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church has it's origins in Wilmette in the 1930's when two nurses, Mildred Belden and Mildred Knowles, started a branch Sabbath School in their treatment rooms. On July 19, 1980, the Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church was fully constructed and dedicated by Everett Cumbo, the Illinois Conference president. In the 90's the church grew as a center of spiritua

l growth in the community. The church saw more and more diversity in it's congregation as God's children originally from all around the world came the the Northbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church to worship our God. Today, the Northbrook SDA Church remains as a place of spiritual growth in the community. We are blessed to still have a diverse group of members and visitors with over 20 countries represented in the congregation to worship our God.

Drama has followed the Ten Commandments since the beginning. God himself spoke from the top of Mount Sinai with thunder and lightning. The Commandments are the only part of Scripture that God himself physically wrote. Down through the ages, the Commandments have been the benchmark of morality in Judeo-Christian thought, and today, the displaying of the Commandments continues to be a source of controversy and drama.

But what are the Commandments, these ten rules God important enough to personally deliver? Join us on this 12-part journey through the Commandments that form the bedrock for what following Christ looks like. Each of the 12 episodes will be shared live Saturdays at 5pm on our YouTube channel starting Saturday October 19th!

ā€œThis is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.ā€ [1 JOHN 3:16-18]

ā€œIs not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:Ā
to loose the chains of injusticeĀ
and untie the cords of the yoke,Ā
to set the oppressed freeĀ
and break every yoke?"

ā€œIs not this the kind of fasting I have chosen...
Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter--
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?"
-Isaiah 58:6-7
We are excited to announce the start of Service Sabbaths. The mission of the Service Sabbath is to fulfill God's purpose for us as His believers. It is, in fact, the Gospel in action.

Once a month, our church has "Service Sabbath". This is a day that we provide a Sabbath blessing to the community. On this Sabbath, we meet at the church at 10:00am, organize into groups, and head out for community service projects.Ā

This winter, we plan to collect winter clothes and accessories, basic hygiene, and care products to pass out to the migrants that are being housed at the Chicago police stations. We would also have a portable stove and make some hot meals at the location.
Check out our website for more information! We invite everyone to join and/or donate!

It's all about RELATIONSHIP!

God desires deeply that His creation be reconciled back to Him and to each

other. That they be known as lovers of God and others; and be willing to fight for relationship.

To be effective disciples, we have to understand our relationships with God, family, the church, and the world.

We invite you to join us on a four-month journey as we learn about the relationships we must foster in order for us to fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ!
