Throwback Thursday at St. Rose of Lima!

For many years Saint Rose hosted a Father-Daughter Dance which, like any endeavor, required adult support and leadership. These adults and high school volunteers discovered that in their practice of stewardship, of sharing their time and talents, they had as much fun in their work together as the young girls and their dads had at the dances. The High School girls ( and boys) shared their artistic talents creating awesome photo backdrops, decorations and favors for the young girls. The fairytale princess themes had a magical castle and lots of sparkle while other themes such as Mardi Gras, Hawaiian luau and the more casual Hoedown had their own unique decorations. The high school volunteers loved to lead in dancing the Macarena or modeling YMCA or the Limbo for those who might have hesitated and their volunteering brought such joy to daughters and dads alike.

This week, we honor St. Teresa of Calcutta (Feast Day: September 5th)!

Mother Teresa’s life was a testament to the power of humble service. While she became a global icon of charity, she never lost sight of the individual. She believed that we don’t need to perform "big" miracles to change the world; we only need to infuse our smallest daily tasks with the love of Christ.
⁣
In a world that often measures success by scale and speed, St. Teresa reminds us that holiness is found in the simple act of showing up for the person right in front of us. Let us ask for her intercession today, that we may find the great love needed to serve our neighbors.
