Sorry for the late post but wanted to share photos of our 3rd anniversary !

So excited for the turnout (80+)for our RCN 3rd anniversary celebration!! Our own crew of regulars showed up along with new visitors to RCN, friends, family and lots of College Church friends. It was an awesome party🎉! Great food, great worship time, encouraging words from Bill, pastor of College Church, and a few words of thanks from me. Lots of testimonies, many surrender crosses, great focus on Jesus, lots of love in the room!!❤️✝️🌅😊👏

Thanks to all who helped make this such a beautiful display of our unity, faith, hope, love and RECOVERY! Let’s keep this party going — giving each other shelter, being a refuge for the Father’s lost and exiled children on their way back home to “a new freedom and a new happiness!” ❤️‍🩹❤️♥️🙏🙏

Grace and Peace.
Thom

Our brother Joe, sharing the beauty of what I means to accept a surrender cross at Recovery Church. We all have something to lay down! A surrender cross is a great opportunity to “mark the spot” where God spoke to your heart and said “this is the moment you lay it down and give it to me.” The beauty is, you don’t have to come up and share a 4th step, or explain why or what you are surrendering; it’s between you, God and those you feel lead to share with in private.

If you’ve ever had to lay something down before the Lord, reply to this with an Amen 🙌

One of Jesus final statements while on the cross was “It is Finished” - A philosophical view of the text would prompt the question….

What does “it” mean?

From a gospel perspective we know that through one man sin entered into the world and Gods plan for redemption was to send His only Son into the world to be the propitiation for our sin and the finished work of the cross surely did finish that job. But what does that look like?

In Isaiah 53 (written 700 years before the cross) - a prophesy of Jesus was made. The entire gospel story can be found in this chapter, from His arrival, to His death, resurrection, and proper crowning/position being established. But what’s most interesting is that this prophesy was written in past tense, meaning he was speaking about after the cross not the coming of the cross.

For example:
It was our weakness he “carried”
Our sorrows “weighed” Him down
He was “Beaten” so we could be whole

See… it’s all past tense

So what this tells us is what has been finished -
If it was our weakness he carried - we no longer have to be weak.

If it was our sorrow that weighed Him down - then we can have joy!

And if He was beaten so we could be made whole - then we my friend are indeed able to be whole.

whatever you face today, remember - It Is Finished!

These are the type of messages that help us know God better and get out of the shame of addiction and step into the grace (free gift) of our God. Our campus Lead Thom shared the story of the Samaritan woman at the well from John 4. What an amazing story for those of us who have had unquenchable thirst, that is until we met a man - one like no other man, who knew us fully (sin and all) yet, came to save us.

Each week we are blessed with an opportunity to gather in the name of Jesus, to learn, grow, and testify of the Goodness of our loving God. We pray you will join us on this road of recovery.

Tuesday Nights 7PM - worship, food, fellowship, and a word.
