“The gospel is not just for the lost it’s for Christians too. We need to preach the gospel to ourselves daily to remember the depth of God’s grace.”

"Upon a life I have not lived, upon a death I did not die; Another's life, another's death, I stake my whole eternity." —Horatius Bonar, Hymn Writer

There is a world of difference between historic Arminianism and the shallow altar-call religion that often wears its name.

Historic Arminianism and Calvinism are not the same doctrine. The differences matter, and I am Reformed for a reason. But both, at their best, are serious attempts to deal honestly with Scripture, sin, grace, the will, the work of Christ, and the glory of God in salvation.

A faithful Calvinist and a faithful Arminian may strongly disagree while still trembling before the same Bible.

But pop-Arminianism is something else entirely.

It is not careful theology. It is man-centered instinct baptized in religious language. It reduces salvation to a sales pitch, turns Jesus into a beggar at the door of the human heart, treats the new birth like a marketing decision, and trains homes to think doctrine is optional as long as everyone is sincere.

That kind of shallow theology does not stay shallow.
It gets into the walls.

It weakens fathers. It sentimentalizes mothers. It turns children into little consumers of religious feelings. It makes worship casual, repentance thin, grace cheap, and Christ small.

And when Christ is made small, the home suffers.

We need deeper roots than slogans. We need fathers and mothers who know their Bibles, love sound doctrine, pray with their children, confess sin quickly, and teach their homes that salvation is of the Lord.

Doctrine is not the enemy of devotion.
Shallow theology is.
