Join us this Sunday, January 18 at 10am for a service entitled: Coretta Scott King, in Her Own Words, led by Rev. Elaine Bomford.

An adaptation for young people of Coretta Scott King's autobiography will serve as our "sermon" for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. We will hear her inspirational life story in her own words, accompanied by vibrant pictures.

Labyrinth of Lights: 5-7pm on Dec. 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 at Hastings Memorial Parish House, 14 Union Street, Walpole.

This month, the Walpole Unitarian Church is pleased to offer our beautiful Labyrinth of Lights to the community again this year. Constructed of greens and tiny lights, the Labyrinth offers both the walker and the observer a time of deep peace during some of the hectic days of December. This much-loved tradition has been offered for more than 20 years in the second floor ballroom of Hastings Memorial Parish House, 14 Union Street.

This year, the Labyrinth will be open from 5pm-7pm December 21 & 22 (Sun-Mon) and December 27, 28, & 29 (Sat-Mon).

If you are new to the Labyrinth, one of our hosts will assist you in getting started. Please plan to wear slippers or socks in the ballroom and leave your shoes downstairs. In the case of inclement weather, a recorded message will be available by 3pm when calling the church phone: 603-756-3961.

We hope you can join us!

P.S. Extending a special invitation to members of Keene Unitarian Universalist Church

ANNUAL LABYRINTH OF LIGHTS –– It’s the time to step out of the hectic season and join others from the community in walking the traditional “Labyrinth of Lights” at the Walpole Unitarian Church, a gentle time for a pause to reflect during this season.
December 22-23, and December 27-29, 5 to 7 p.m.

We are happy to once again offer our Labyrinth of Lights to the community during the Winter Solstice Season.

The Labyrinth will take place in the ballroom upstairs at the Parish House, behind the church, at 14 Union Street. It provides visitors a quiet time for meditative reflection as they wend their way through the light-studded greenery and plant their own candle at the center. Together with the serene background music and the dimly lit space, this ritual is said by many to bring a sense of peaceful spiritual nourishment during the darkening and hectic days of December.

Admission is open to all by donation. All money received is gratefully accepted.

We humbly apologize that at this time, the facility is only accessible by individuals able to surmount stairs.

Location: Upstairs ballroom, Hastings Parish House, 14 Union Street, Walpole
Dates: December 22-23 and 27-29
Time: drop in between 5-7pm
Weather closures: will be posted on Facebook and on our message machine at (603) 756-3961.

“When summer opens, I see how fast it matures, and fear it will be short; but after the heats of July and August, I am reconciled, like one who has had his swing, to the cool of autumn.”
Ralph Waldo Emerson
