Tomorrow is Rally Day.

Tomorrow we'll gather around coffee and conversation.

Tomorrow children will laugh and create.

Tomorrow we'll worship together.

Tomorrow we'll bless backpacks and begin a new year of learning and faith formation.

But more importantly...

Tomorrow we'll continue becoming the community we believe God is calling us to be.

A place where people are welcomed.

A place where differences don't prevent belonging.

A place where God's love is shared freely.

If you've been thinking about visiting, we'd love for tomorrow to be the day.

Come as you are.

We'll save a seat for you.

Rally Day - Sunday, September 13
Free Breakfast and Activities for All
Coffee & Conversation - 9:30 a.m.
Sunday School for youth of all ages - 9:30 a.m.
Worship - 10:45 a.m.
Blessing of the Backpacks - have your kiddos bring their bookbags.

If you have a child, we have a place in the actual Sanctuary where kids can quietly play. Quiet is all relative. How quiet are children really? You can stay in the sanctuary, your child can keep active, and you can be a part of the service. We also have a nursery if you prefer. But we embrace parents here.

If you've ever wondered whether there was room for you in church, this post is for you.

To our LGBTQ+ neighbors:

You are not a project. You are not a problem to solve. You are not an exception to God's love.

You are beloved.

As we prepare for Rally Day, we want you to know that many people in our congregation have worked intentionally and prayerfully to create a church where authenticity and faith can coexist.

You don't need to hide part of yourself to walk through our doors.

Who you are matters.

And you are welcome here.

πŸ’œ

Come as you are.

We'll save a seat for you.

And, all kids are welcome! We have a playground in the Santuary. You can be in the service and quietly play with your children in the space. And if they scream, we do not care. Kids scream.

Our sign says:
"Jesus loves everyone you hate."

It's a reminder that God's love is often bigger than our comfort zones, assumptions, and divisions.

At St. John's, that belief is reflected in our commitment as a Reconciling in Christ congregation.

That means we have publicly committed to welcoming and affirming LGBTQIA+ people and their families, while striving to be a community where all people know they are created in God's image and deeply loved by God.

We don't claim to be perfect.

But we do believe the Church is strongest when more people are welcomed to the table, not fewer.

As we prepare for Rally Day, we're celebrating the community God is building among us, one where people can bring their questions, their gifts, their stories, and their authentic selves.

Whether you've been part of church your whole life, have been away for years, or are wondering if there's room for someone like you, we want you to know:

There is room. There is welcome. There is grace.

Inclusion isn't a slogan.

It's greeting someone before they have to introduce themselves.

It's learning names.

It's making space for different experiences, different families, and different journeys.

It's listening.

It's showing up for one another.

It's making sure people know they matter.

At St. John's, we believe everyone is created in God's image and worthy of dignity, respect, and belonging.

That's the kind of church we're striving to become.

There is a place for you here. You are beloved. Come as you are.

Jesus spent a remarkable amount of time with people others pushed away.

Again and again, he crossed boundaries.

He sat at tables with outsiders. He welcomed those society rejected. He listened to people others ignored.

The closer we look at Jesus, the harder it becomes to build walls around God's love.

That's why we believe a church should be known first by its welcome.

As Rally Day approaches, we're celebrating our commitment to keep making room at the table.

There is always room for one more.

And for what it's worth, we don't see you as an outsider. We see YOU. And love you for you.

Some people think church is for people who have all the answers.

We disagree.

Faith is not about pretending. It's not about having all the right words, all the right beliefs, or a perfect life.

Faith is about showing up.

Bringing your questions. Your doubts. Your hopes. Your joys. Your wounds.

At St. John's, we believe there is room at God's table for seekers, skeptics, lifelong believers, and people who aren't quite sure what they believe anymore.

You don't have to have everything figured out to belong here.

As we prepare for Rally Day on September 13, we invite you to come as you are and discover a community that walks together.

There is a place for you here.
