Praying for Landyn’s family these days.

It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic loss of JCHS junior, Landyn Porter.

Landyn was a valued member of the JCHS Football program throughout his high school career and will be remembered by his teammates, teachers, and friends for the impact he made on our school community.

To support students and staff during this difficult time, JCHS will open the Commons on Wednesday, June 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. School counselors and local clergy members will be available to offer support, guidance, and a compassionate listening ear to anyone who may need assistance.

Students planning to attend should enter through Door I, located in the back parking lot.

As we mourn this heartbreaking loss, we ask our entire community to keep Landyn’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. Your kindness, support, and compassion will be deeply appreciated in the days and weeks ahead.

Please remember that this is a private family matter.

Most people stay quiet about their faith because they feel like they're not ready — not trained enough, not knowledgeable enough, not eloquent enough. But Jesus didn't send Matthew out with a theology degree. He just said follow me. And Matthew had a story. That's enough. What has God been doing in your life lately that's worth talking about?

What if you prayed this one prayer before you left the house tomorrow?
"Jesus — who do you want me to tell the story to today?"

You don't have to manufacture a gospel conversation. You just have to be present, be open, and actually want to know how someone's doing. The questions are already there. Sometimes all it takes is one person willing to listen.
