We enjoyed a lovely, meaningful Maundy Thursday service and Seder Dinner preparing ourselves for a beautiful Easter Sunday service! All are welcome at Payne Avenue Christian Church!

For my dear friends and family at Payne Avenue Christian Church,
And in memory of Leah Benton...

The Consecration

The people from the group home
Toddle across the lawn together
Like children, or the elderly.
Despite all their challenges
They have learned how
To behave themselves so well
Filling up one long pew
For the service.
But none of us could be more
Well behaved than the one of them,
The simple woman with chaotic
White hair, who leans over
And reaches out
During the consecration,
To pull the hat down over the ear
Of the feeble little man next to her,
Before they venture out again
Into the cold.

Memorial Service for our Leah Benton, Elder Emeritus on Saturday, 1/31/26 at Wattengel Funeral Home, 533 Meadow Dr., North Tonawanda, NY.
Visitation 12 Noon - 4:00 pm with service immediately following at 4:00.
