The best time you can spend is an hour with Jesus in the presence of the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Eucharistic Adoration is available every Thursday at St. John's - 9am-6:30pm! (However, today we don't start until noon.)

In most dioceses of the United States, the Church will celebrate the Solemnity of Corpus Christi this year on Sunday, June 7, following the traditional rhythm of the calendar shortly after Trinity Sunday. The feast, instituted in 1264 by Pope Urban IV, highlights the Church’s faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. “Corpus Christi” is Latin for “Body of Christ,” drawing our attention to Christ truly present under the appearances of bread and wine.

Throughout history, deep devotion to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament has marked the lives of the saints; by following their example, we too can grow in love for Jesus present in the Eucharist and strengthen our friendship with him through his Body and Blood.

Join us this Saturday (June 6) morning at 8:15 a.m. for a special Mass celebrating the Most Holy Eucharist, followed by the Eucharistic procession in honor of this solemnity.

Many of us are excited about the summer that is just around the corner, and planning a vacation is at the top of our to-do list.

Too often we hear someone say that they “missed” Mass because they were out of town, on the road, on a cruise, or at a theme park. That is more of a decision to neglect your spiritual welfare than simply a “miss”, as if it were an accident. But there is no good reason to not go to Mass, and a very long list of excellent reasons to make the effort to do so. There is no vacation from our obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days.

In fact, the wise Catholic makes checking Mass times for their destination the first item on the to-do list. There are several apps to help you. MassTimes.org, USCCB Mass Finder, and the Catholic Mass Times app all put the information right at your fingertips.

This is most important for parents who are responsible for their children’s spiritual formation. We owe it to them.
So whether the destination is the beach at South Padre Island, a national park, or a theme park, make your first stop at your computer or cell phone and check where you will attend Mass. It’s easy and the right thing to do. Then, relax and have a great vacation.

May God grant you safe travels. ~ Fr. Jack

Tip #1: Search Google Maps for a Catholic Church near where you are staying and find Mass times.

Tip #2: Pack a rosary, pocket bible, or other devotional

Tip #3: Listen to a Catholic podcast in between commutes. (The Diocese of Fort Worth podcast is Lights, Catholic, Action)

~~~~~
Muchos estamos entusiasmados con el verano que se acerca, y planificar las vacaciones encabeza nuestra lista de prioridades.
Con demasiada frecuencia escuchamos a alguien decir que “faltó” a misa porque estaba fuera de la ciudad, de viaje, en un crucero o en un parque de diversiones. Eso implica descuidar “mi bienestar espiritual” que una simple “falta”, como si fuera un accidente.
No hay una buena excusa para no ir a misa, y si una larga lista de excelentes razones para hacer el esfuerzo de hacerlo. No hay motivo ni excepción para no cumplir con los días de obligación que son los domingos, como también los días festivos.
De hecho, el católico sabio considera que consultar los horarios de misa en su destino es lo primero en su lista. Existen varias aplicaciones que pueden ayudar a encontrar una iglesia, i.e. MassTimes.org, la pagina web de la Conferencia de Obispos Católicos de Estados Unidos (USCCB) y la aplicación “Catholic Mass Times”, ponen la información al alcance de su mano.
Esto es especialmente importante para los padres de familia, quienes son responsables de la formación espiritual de sus hijos, y a quienes se lo debemos.
Así que, ya sea que su destino sea la playa de South Padre Island, un parque nacional o un parque temático, lo primero que debe hacer es consultar dónde asistirá a misa. Es fácil y lo correcto. Luego de misa, relájese y disfrute de unas excelentes vacaciones.
Que Dios le conceda un viaje seguro. ~ Fr. Jack
Consejo #1: Busca en Google Maps una iglesia católica cerca de donde te hospedas y consulta los horarios de misa.
Consejo #2: Lleva contigo un rosario, una Biblia de bolsillo u otro objeto devocional.
Consejo #3: Escucha un pódcast católico durante tus desplazamientos. (El pódcast de la Diócesis de Fort Worth se titula *Lights, Catholic, Action*).
