In honor of the Horseshoe Grille's 100th Anniversary, they are giving 10% of their sales for this Thursday, September 10 (5-9PM), to St. Theresa Parish. Let's celebrate this big milestone with them. Did you know that we have her sisters in Dorchester? The Missionaries of Charity in Dorchester serve the poorest of the poor by ministering to Boston's homeless in shelters and on the streets.

September is the month that St. Theresa stock the North Reading Food Pantry. Donations can be placed in the bins at the doors of the church. Though the Food Pantry offers a list of "Most Needed" items, they are grateful for any and all donations. Please see list of what they can not accept. Thank you for you generosity.

Herod killed John the Baptist to avoid the embarrassment of breaking a promise to a 12-year-old. This shows us the foolishness of pride. In contrast, John’s willingness to die for the sake of the truth shows us that humility is the way to follow the Lamb of God.

Ever wonder why God sometimes speaks clearly, but other times he seems quiet? St. Augustine writes about how God is quieter because he goes further inside of us into our hearts, and he wants us to search for him there.

On this feast of St. Monica, we think of all the mothers who are praying for the conversion of their children. Monica grieved for her son who was away from God, and devoted much of her life to praying that he would be saved. Her son, St. Augustine, went on to become a bishop and Doctor of the Church. St. Monica, pray for us and all those who are far from God!
