Oh come, let us worship the Lord!

Morning message: Pastor Ventura: Eph. 5:25-30 Theme: Marriage by the Book (the husband’s role) (II).

The person to love: 25A Husbands, love your wives,

The pattern for the love: 25B just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

The purpose in the love: 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

The parallel of the love: 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
30 For we are members of His body, [h]of His flesh and of His bones.

Oh come, let us worship the Lord!

Morning message: Pastor Ventura, Eph. 5:22-24, Theme: Marriage by the Book (the wife’s role) (I).
The mandate for submission: Wives, submit to your own husbands
The manner of submission: as to the Lord
The motive of submission: For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
The model of submission: Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything
Applications:

Evening message: Pastor Bob Burrelli, Hosea 6, Theme: Quid Pro Quo

Main Idea: Professing believers, especially those steeped in years of spiritual
infidelity, repent under divine discipline for selfish gain rather than deep remorse
over grieving their first love, which only grieves Him more and makes matters
worse.

I. Professing believers under divine discipline often approach repentance as a quid pro
quo arrangement (1-3).

II. God is grieved by and rebukes it, desiring obedience over sacrifice (4-6).

III. Transactional repentance will always make matters worse, whether or not it’s
the result of a long-standing habit of spiritual infidelity (7-11a).
