RECOGNITION FOR SERVICE

Most of us in recovery like to keep a low profile when it comes to public recognition for service. The only time we really like to draw attention is for our anniversary dates. Even in that we always give credit to the One who made it happen for us and that is God. Without Him we would be still "out there" doing the things we knew how to do: drinking, drugging, trying to fix or control everyone and everything, etc. Yet the Bible teaches us to give honor to those who deserve honor. We did that last Friday evening when we honored Onalee. I want to personally thank all who attended her special service. I also want to say a big thank you to those who served at our DaySpring event on Saturday. A big load was taken off me when my brother offered to drive the bus. Cookies were made for us (I never made a cookie in my life), CR people taught the lessons and brought water and communion elements, and Edgewater and North Port CR brought a special presence and music. May the Lord bless those who serve the Lord Jesus in Celebrate Recovery.

DON'T BE AFRAID!

Matthew 14:27
But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid."

Picture this: the followers of Jesus were in a small boat being tossed about in a furious storm. They were far away from solid ground and the wind was blowing violently against them. On top of everything, they thought they saw a ghost walking on top of the water, coming right at them. The Bible says they were terrified. Last week in Florida a terrible rainstorm came, the thunder shook our house, and lightning struck all around us. Life can get threatening at times and when the storm hits, all you can do is stand strong and trust the Lord. In less than an hour, the storm clouds broke, the thunder stopped, and there was no more lightning. It was still cloudy, but we were out of danger. Now back to the disciples. As far as we know the storm hadn't really settled down and they were still frightened, but Jesus said these encouraging words, "Take courage! It is I, don't be afraid". All I need at times are His life-giving and comforting words "It is I, don't be afraid."

I see your beautiful light shining and I thank you for doing so! We are here to be a light and share our light and love in a world that is suffering. Imagine if we didn't, how very dark it would be!
Be a beacon of hope for others during difficult times. Encourage and uplift wherever you can and add your goodness to our world. It is so very needed!

It was such a blessing to have our conference this year in Bluffton, IN. Bishops came from Nigeria and Kenya to speak to us and were a great encouragement to us all. We missed our brothers and sisters from Ecuador. We have only one desire and that is to exalt the wonderful Name of Jesus and serve the body all over His world.
