As followers of Jesus Christ, we believe that loving others means looking for opportunities to serve them. The Savior taught:

“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” — Matthew 25:40

What a beautiful reminder that when we serve others, we are serving Him. 💛

“I think a common sense approach to disasters and emergencies is the first place to start. For these, you just have to make a plan. And the plan should remain simple and effective. All plans are a work in progress and need to be reviewed often.

“Canning and preserving the food that we grow in our garden taught me a lot about what my grandparents and our ancestors did. They would garden all summer and store the food for the winter. I’d kind of like to do that for us. We need a victory garden.

“It’s not even an issue when you’re raising your own food and growing your own food. And if you don’t have space at home to have a garden, container gardens are always great on balconies. There’s always community gardens.

“It’s always nice having our kids know what to do, and we all know what to do together. That brings a lot of peace and comfort.

“For me, it’s having a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and reading our scriptures together, because that strengthens us as a couple and as a family. We know to turn to God in prayer.

“Spiritual preparedness—you don’t have to put that in a backpack and take that with you wherever you go. That’s always with you. That’s why that one is so important.

Be prepared spiritually.

Come unto Christ.

Jesus Christ doesn't just understand your pain. He felt it. He knows exactly how it feels to be tired, sick, or broken, allowing Him to perfectly comfort and strengthen us in our moments of uncertainty.

The word succor means to run to the aid of someone. By experiencing it all Himself, Jesus gained perfect, first-hand empathy.

The prophet Alma from the Book of Mormon teaches this by saying, "He shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind… that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities.” Alma 7:11-12

Jesus Christ loves you, He understands you, and He's ready to help. Meet with missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in your area to learn how.

To all the parents doing their best to make it through sacrament meeting, we see you. 🤍

We know it can be hard. There are snacks, wiggles, whispered reminders, trips to the hallway, and moments when it may feel like you are getting very little from the meeting.

But your efforts matter. As we help our children learn to reverently participate, we are also giving them opportunities to learn about the Savior and the sacred importance of the sacrament. Week by week, we return to Him, renew our covenants, and remember His sacrifice.

So take a deep breath, give yourself grace, and remember: you are doing something important, even on the hard Sundays. 🤍

Following Jesus Christ begins with faith and leads us to sacred covenants. Through baptism by immersion, we follow the Savior’s perfect example, leaving our old selves behind and beginning a new life centered on Him. As we prepare for baptism, we prepare our hearts to walk with Christ every day. 💙

How does the Lord speak to you?

Before "Speak to Us, Lord" was in the new global hymnbook, it was in a collection of poems by J. Scott Miller’s grandfather. Turning it into a hymn felt like "a combination of my grandfather and me working on the same poem," he said.
