History was officially made in the nation’s capital as former Howard University chaplain Father Robert P. Boxie III was consecrated as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Washington.

At just 45 years old, the Louisiana native is officially the youngest Catholic bishop in the United States and the entire Western Hemisphere.

Bishop Boxie is also the first member of the Divine Nine to ascend to the episcopate in the Catholic Church.

🌱 On April 25, the St. Augustine Community Garden Club hosted its first work day! Together, we prepared the garden beds for planting and began laying the foundation for a fruitful growing season.

📅 Our next work day is Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Come join us as we plant tomatoes, cucumbers, green beans, squash, okra, herbs, and flowers!

🙏 Can’t attend in person? You can still support the garden by joining us in spirit through the Community Garden Prayer.

We look forward to growing together as a community! 🌻
